I just got a Misery and have been doing well with this build:

I've been doing horribly with multi-weapon setups with staggered ranges, so I've gone plain and simple on my latest Misery like Charronn mentioned above. It's just an AC20 with 3 LPL. With the modules for LPL Range and Cooldown, it's cool enough to sit out at mid-range, and ready to bring the hurt if anyone comes within AC20 range. Thanks to the speed quirks for the Misery, it's easy to reposition and aim, and while I didn't really think Ferro would help, it let me throw in AMS.
Obviously, don't go toe-to-toe with a Dire Wolf or anything!

I always enjoyed the Misery but sold all my IS Mechs to fund Clan Omnis. If I ever go merc I would buy the Stalker, Cataphract,Hunchback,Catapult, and Blackjack Mastery Packs.

My Misery is pretty similar to Elizander one, with a little more range and different laser placement (I hated when enemies hit the gauss side and I was losing all my weaponry)
