I am probably going to recieve alot of flame for this, but meh.
What would make ths game better is if most Mechs had some re-work, to put them towards some sort of focus and do really exceptionally well in one area while being vulnerable to other things.
So we currently have: Light, Medium, Heavy, Assault.
First of all we need a Sub Category for each Mech such as the following: Energy, Ballistic, Missiles, Hybrid which will say as to what a Mechs Primary focus is toward.
Secondly, Mechs need to have like a Chasis bonus which will also help with specialisation.
So for example:
Hunchback HBK-4P
Class: Medium
Sub-Class: Energy
Chasis bonus: 10% reduced Heat generated from Energy Weapons
E: 9 B: 0 M: 0 AMS: 1
and
Hunchback HBK-4G
Class: Medium
Sub-Class: Hybrid
Chasis bonus: 5% increased Damage to Energy Weapons and Ballistic Weapons
E: 3 B: 3 M: 0 AMS: 1
The reason why the first one has a heat related bonus as opposed to damage would be because it can fit 9 lasers, so this specialization points towards firing all lasers at once with out worrying about overheat. The second one has damage bonus to both weapon systems because it has less weapons, the damage bonus is designed to ramp up the amount of (effective weapons).
Thirdly, the amount of Laser only focused Mechs need to be reduced and the amount of Missile and Ballistic Mechs need to be increased. so there should be a even spread of Mech class: 25% Energy, 25% Ballistic, 25% Missile, 25% Hybrid
There you have it guys that how i feel the issues with this game should be dealt with, to make the game alot more emersive.
