I sometimes play as a Cataphract 4X with 2 x ac2's and 2 x Uac5's - its a very good brawler. I recently changed my firing to separate arms to better manage my heat and not waste bullets when trying to shoot around corners... left mouse button fires 1 x Uac5 and 1 x AC2 and the right one the same.
I started noticing unusual heat spikes, it was working out better firing them all at once than individually which sounded a bit wrong to me so I decided to take a trip into the good old training grounds to investigate why.
I did a short video of my findings
Seems the heat spikes dramatically when you fire the weapons slightly apart.
I turned the UAC5's off for this experiment.

http://mwomercs.com/...an-explanation/
Pretty much explains it. Because you are firing an AC/2 without 0.5s between the shots, staggered at all in other words, you are generating Ghost Heat.

I think I saw that graph, it explains if I was firing with 2 x AC2's on each arm but not with just 1 on each arm... or am I missing something?

Oh wait, I see now.
What a stupid heat rule, are the guys who make this up at PGI on drugs or something?
So they are saying I can fire both at the same time and it wont really effect me that much but if I fire them slightly apart then it will basically overheat my mech faster than large lasers.
I want to say something very unsavory right now... I'm just going to let it go, think I'm going to take two weeks off this game and see if its been fixed a bit better then.

I know how you are feeling, we've been bashing against the brick wall that is communication on this since that thread was posted and it is infuriating.
Hope that we do end up seeing you on the field again.

See, Troll Pual, this is why ghost heat is bad.

Yeah, because everyone knows AC/2s are the most OP weapon in the game and require massive heat penalties when chain fired! /sarcasm

Nothing changed but the value of the heat multiplier, so no surprise, Spudz0r.

I agree . AC2 is underpowered but not because of its heat !
I run 21 double heatsinks on Stalker to use lasers . Jaggers run 10-12 heatsinks with 3 canons and expect heat efficiency ! Really people ?
