Orion Ct

I've been center torso'd 3 times in 5 games by lrms. And you know why? CT is too damn big. But in all seriousness the ct stretchs up over the back torso, making it an easy hit for lrms.

That's a picture of how massive the CT is.
Honestly I feel like I've been robbed of the mc I dropped on it when it first came out.
The Orion needs the Kintaro treatment, because how it is atm it's just a huge nasty damage magnet.

Many mechs are so monstrously big, I simply won't play them.

If the Orion needs any adjustment it's the side torso's and arms. They may look like you can use them to twist the damage but they really struggle to shield the mech. I'd like to be able to twist and actually have the damage mitigated to where I'm twisting. The atlas is a perfect example. So is the cataphract, you twist and suddenly they are forced to gnaw through your arm side torso's.
@sillynobs not knowing what they complain about.

I'm not disagreeing with you, as the Orion definitely has the "way too big front CT" flaw, but the highlighted area of a location in mechlab rarely represents the actual hit box.

Totally agree.
I haven't been running too many XL builds, but torso twist seems to do nothing to mitigate the damage to the CT.

And the rest of us that want to use standard loadouts or stock on the Orion will just have to suffer through bad hitbox design? Nice troll kid. A 2/10 for your effort.

But I don't have the 'mech's entire pilot tree unlocked yet, so maybe my attitude will change. But right now the Orion just seems like it's made out of glass. I expected the chassis to be just as tough as my Jagermech, if not tougher.

I even feel less squishy in Catapults, Dragons and Awesomes than I do in an Orion; just because those at least take some hits to the arms sometimes.
I was really excited for the Orion, and was hoping for a good heavy brawler. The Victor and Cataphract both massively outshine it in this area. So you're forced in to a fire-support role; where it's inferior to Jagers, Phracts, Pults, and even Awesomes.
I wouldn't go so far as to call it DOA; but it's inferior at one thing you might want to do and sub-optimal at another, making it never the best choice for any role.

1: High-mounted Energy/Ballistic hardpoints.
2: Reasonable CT size. (Either very slim, or evenly balanced between CT, RT, and LT.)
There is no great heavy/assault that lacks these factors. That is how important CT size is. If the Madcat/Timberwolf has the same CT as a Catapult, it won't be any better than the Catapult.
