I am a mechworrior ol lover. I got 3 TBT mechs and I feel this type of mech are very poor .How can I pick up ballistic and LRM with such weight? maybe you will ask me how about other medium mech...oops mediums are only fighting in short range now.if you pick up LRM you can see how many armor left on your TBT. and TBT-7M get one hardpoint shoot missles one by one (I used to pick LRM15 on it. is that amazing huh?) now I just pick SRM to fighting with enemies (hard to shoot lights and be killed by fat mech with powful weapons). how many people using medium mechs now. AS a online game , the balance of game is very important.Anyway, I could not see it in this game. there are only light (moving fast they shoot you hard) or heavy (with powful weapon and much more armor).players should choose. Now maybe it's time to leave this game.

XL Engine = Problem solved
Reduce Plebuchet Size = Viable Chassis

Treb is ok using a standard engine but really benefits with an XL engine. No one mech chassis is can survive if you don't play to the strengths of the build you have. Mediums are they to support, skirmish maybe if you want but not to dive in toe to toe with the enemy team.
Having mastered three trebs I can say they are well capable of being effective, occasionally even turning a match in your teams favour.

Historically in tournies, the bucket is at the bottom of the list of mediums in scoring. It's not scientific proof or evidence that that Trebuchet is bad outright, but its designs are limited to making the most out of LRM15s (or LRMs in general).
The TBT-7K however is the best variant, and stuffing it with lasers/PPC and dakka using the Centurion-like arms for shields is the way to go.
Otherwise.... the 5J is perfect for being a poptart jumper energy boat.

If you have a TBT-7M give this a whirl. It plays like a faster, jump jetting Hunchback 4SP with the added bonus of having Artemis on the SRMs.
Its still a medium mech so you're best bet is to hit and run or attack distracted enemies. Nailing any mech in the back with that 39 point alpha is gonna make them hurt.
You can push the concept of the build to the max by ripping out all the heatsinks and replacing the engine with an XL325 (and an extra JJ). 50 tons of 115 kph of flying death.

Granted, the mech suffers from being quite large... Oh well.

Found it good as missile support, think I ran with 3 medium lasers, lrm15,Lrm 10(weight saved went to more ammo) found the downgrade on one Lrm for ammo was a good move, usually run out otherwise.

Sarna.net got it quite right in the desc.
"The Trebuchet (also jovially referred to as the Trenchbucket) is a mainline medium weight BattleMech considered to be a fine blend of long- and short-range fire support for a unit of its size. Unlike many other pre-Clan 'Mechs the Trebuchet was designed from the beginning to work as part of a lance instead of functioning as a standalone model. "
I started having fun with the Trebuchet using LRMs. SRMs arent a vialbe option for this chassis.

Not true, 2x ASRM6 does just fine on Trebs, infact I do quite great with them regularly. The speed and agility of this chassis is great, the loadouts can be underwhelming but are usually quite cool.
Unless your in a ultra fast 3C you should never be alone in a treb, great support mechs at close or long range.

I find them to be good SRM platforms for filling the role of striker/harasser mechs. Great speed and maneuverability. I have run the 7M with 300XL, 3 medium lasers, 2 SRM6s, and SRM2 (Narc tube) and currently run it with 300XL, 3 Medium pulse, and 3 SSRMs with BAP. Using speed and jumpjets to harass the enemy, and create confusion, so my team can strike. 7C with 355XL, 4 Medium pulse, and 2 SSRMs. 5J with 325XL, 5 medium lasers, and SRM6 with BAP. Like stated before, you are not going head to head with mechs heavier than you or even CN9 or Hunch. You are using speed and JJs to get around the enemy. Fits my play-style beautifully.

I hated my Trebs for a long time too. I tried to run them as variants of Hunchback 4SPs and it just made me angry. I had a 5N, 3c, and 7K. The 7K was the only one that worked for me. After I turned my 5N into a standard engine MLAS and Streak boat it did better. The 3C with LRMS became a BEAST especially because if you use BAP/TAG you both hit with your LRMS and help the team more too. I say change the build from pure damage. I used to complain the Centurion was too big too, but I just say...Go faster and dont get TOO close!
