I just had a frustrating experience where I went against light mechs and watched in horror as my UAC5 was hitting them and not doing damage over and over again. Same with my PPCs. Unlike previous HSR iterations, there simply did not appear to be a sweet spot. I'd shoot, watch my shot cross-angle through the enemy mech, and have nothing happen.
So I whipped out my spider.
Watched as a PPC basically floated through me.
Then got toasted by lasers.
So essentially lasers hit moving lights but projectile weapons don't.

Projectiles Not Hitting Light Mechs

I'm feeling your frustration Jimbo, lights, especially those at 120kph+ are near impossible to hit for me. I have pitted my gauss/Lg las Phrakt against lights when fresh and lost to a spider, Ok i gotta lead with the gauss but 2 1/2 lengths? and same with the Laser only to see them graize or damage that of a small laser. I have fired 2 gauss at a damaged spider that was coming toward me on a flat expecting a kill only to se a slight change in the armour colour. something not right here

know what? I just saw a spider get shot by lasers and they didnt do damage, or did at most 1 damage. I'd see a large laser cut left to right across him and none of the armor would light up.
And he wasn't even moving fast, just taking a few steps in and out from behind a rock.
And this happened again and again throughout the game. Same guy, just running around not taking damage.

This issue has been around for a long, long time. They can't seem to fix it.

I had the same issue with stationary Spiders.
One time, i fired 2UAC (min 4 Shot hit, probably more), 2LL, 2ML, and 2MGs in the back of a stationary spider. All shots were aimed at his rear center torso, but some might have hit the left rear. Still, he should've been destroyed instead of just running away seconds later, being somewhat damaged.
I experienced the problem multiple times with enemy spiders, who didn't move at all, or even just stood in the front of my jägermech and shoot at me. Without instantly vaporizing. It seems even worse than before. Compared to this, the SRM-detection seems actually like it was improved (not against lights, though^^).

To hit with projectiles you have to lead the target, which means your convergence for the projectiles line of fire isn't on the target it's somewhere behind and beyond the target because your crosshairs are not on the target, which means your projectile is aimed at a line of fire somewhere 50 to 5000 meters behind the target, which means your projectiles are scattering all around the target because of the constant changes to the range convergence which is based on wherever your crosshairs are, which is everywhere but the target.
