I had one of those rare days where I was not in front of an Internet connected device for most of the day. Gasp!
Without further adieu, here is our final Christmas song...

So did anyone see a Dev, much less kill a Dev, during the recent event??

I didn't see a single one. Either my ELO is horribly worse than theirs or I am just extremely unlucky.

Very glad to be back and ready to give these Saber Mechs a run... anyone have any thoughts on them?

Overall I'd give the Griffin a "meh".

I've had some decent moments with the GRF-3M configured as mobile fire support, which is my favorite of the three.
The other two I just cram the biggest engine + SRM's + ML's.

All three have their energy hard points in that right arm. All it takes is for one enemy mech to look at it funny, and you've just lost all your energy weapons. Gotta protect that right arm.

If one does not currently own the Griffin then I'd say skip it. If, however, you already own the Griffin then, it is not locust-terrible.

I have not spent a lot of time in the Wolverine. However, the hardpoints aren't all that different from the Griffin... except for the one variant with the ballistics. I'm looking forward to trying that one.

I saw no dev either. On the flip side, the Griff is kind of meh in my opinion. Its "sword arm" is a target and I feel that the hitbox for it is kind of large. Add to that its torso hitbox being HUGE!!!!...yeah I don't like it at all Kni. I would rather run a hunchback than any of the griffs :)

On the other hand...it does have a cool name! You can walk around with a battlemaster and look like a family.

I'm still working through the original Phoenix mechs. I'd have to say that I'm really coming to appreciate the Thunderbolt a lot more now that I have a couple of good builds on it.

I've had decent luck with the Tbolts, but they are probably my least favorite of the Phoenix mechs. My favorite builds have been putting a couple good sized LRM racks in the shoulder, plus an ERLL or two and a tag. They do ok, but when you can do pretty much the same exact build in a BMaster with more armor and as much or more speed, the TBolt seems pretty lackluster until tonnage limits matter.

Hey Cimarb was great getting to drop with you yesterday! I've only found one decent build for the T-Bolt atm that suits my style. Thanks for the advice on the Saber Mechs as well guys really liking the Wolverine but not totally sold yet on the Griffin.

I've said it for a while, and I will keep saying it. Jagermechs. And if you want missles, Catapults. Balanced hardpoints, lots of firepower, good customizability. :)

Jagers are pretty awesome. It's very rare that I don't see one in a match. For the T-bolts, I run them lazer heavy. My phoenix variant has 3 large pulse lasers and 2 machine guns. Does a great job of punching through armor and then ripping up the insides.

Just gotta get close and watch the heat.
