Would be nice to have this so I can see my paint/camo scheme for a while in battle, seeing only the rear is a bit of a downer.

Actually I'm against this idea. I support the 3rd person view in general because it's a good way to get accomplished using the separate torso/legs movement - it's good to see for a newbie how the mech behaves. But it shouldn't be a real alternative to the cockpit view imo. No offense though.

I think that's indeed a good idea. To hell with these wanna-be competitive people. MWO isn't a competitive game at all. If you wannabes wanna try to compete in the nerdism of e-sports, find your place in Star Craft 2 or the absolute nerd paradise League Of Legendary Nerds.

They should have added the external camera from MW2, a camera which is just pointed at your own mech, and you can view your mech from all angles, without HUD or anything.
Did I already mentioned that the current 3pv is an abomination?

Not trolling it's a legitimate request, they have the same thing in World of Tanks, which has very similar gameplay and it's always nice to see what you paid for (camo and paint).
As to the guy saying it shouldn't be a real alternative to cockpit, well it isn't, I almost see no one using it anyway, I'm just saying for times in between combat it's nice to see your mech.

Sure, if it's limited to training grounds or split 1PV / 3PV queues.
