Watcha think?

BattleMaster

ShadowHawk

ThunderBolt

And befor anyone mentions it.. YES i know my arms and legs are not maxed out. There's no reason to max them out with the current 'meta' gameplay of "shoot the CT with the most firepower you can, and ONLY the CT'.

Even if i was payed 100$ for every time i lost an arm, or leg in a match.... i wouldn't have enough money to live 1 month. Give me 1$ for every time ive lost my CT.. and ONLY my CT.. i'd never have to work a day in my life.

So.. with that out of the way.... What do you guys think?

All of them are terribad builds.

Here's the thing... just because you believe you can get away with the low armor in the legs, doesn't mean people won't leg. If anything, you're asking for trouble when people actually pay attention to their paperdoll armor readouts.

Heat sinks empty in the Battlemaster engine. Pulse lasers not worth the weight for their terrible range unless you plan on being face melt close. If you put in links to smurfy people can rearrange things to help you out.

again... i have almost NEVER been shot anywhere BUT the CT.

If the 'meta' wasnt a "Alpha the CT over and over again".. then yes.. i'd fill up the armor on arms and legs. But its NOT. Unfortunately that is the sad truth about MWO right now. No one ever aims for anything BUT the CT or ST's. It is extremely rare for me to ever see even YELLOW on my arm/leg armor.. on any of my mech's, and none of them have anywhere near full armor on the extremities.

Yea.. noticed the missing Heatsinks from the engine after i saved the pic =).. Plan to just take the HS's from the arms and drop them in the engine later. :)

As for the Pulses... figured i'd wait and see if their modified between now and then. If not i'll flip them over to standard mediums and throw on more armor/heatsinks.

Rahp armor at 40 is not the best idea, once a missed shot hit your legs and registers people will leg you.
50 points is much better, I do agree max armor is a waste just your amount will lead to trouble.
6xMP is going to run hot, 6xML for more heat sinks and some armor :) might be better option.

You will play it your way unless practical work proves otherwise.

Not sure about the other builds, the engines look too small in my opinion.
But time will tell :)

Yea on the PL's was gonna run them in a steady cycle fire. :) thats the plan anyway. Will have to wait and see if i need to switch over to standard ML's once the mech's actually go live.

As for the engines, i haven't had much experience with changing them out or whatnot.. so simply went by tonnage rather than the numbers. heh.

you get shot in the torso for 2 reasons.

1) IN anything, you shoot center mass. Because even if your aim is off, you still hit SOMETHING. That is standard combat practice the world over. You have some virtuosos who go for a limb, but overall, even in this game, you need to kill the cockpit or the engine. So center mass is the way to go 90% of the time.

2) You don't twist enough. Because if you did, you WOULD be losing limbs. Twisting is how you protect the center mass of your mech. It's better to sacrifice and arm, even with your primary weapon, then your CT with it's engine.

I know why people do it. Thats a given. Kill the CT you kill the mech. Asside from the head, its the only section were destroying 1 section kills the entire mech. If you want to kill it by leg's, you have to take out BOTH instead of only 1 (as in most other MW games). If your a heavier mech than the one your facing, You simply chain-alpha strike the other guy's CT so you can take his out faster than he does yours. Its the 'meta' of the game at the moment. So the CT is the only place people aim at. Which is why i hardly ever run full armor anywere BUT the CT and STs.

Ive tried twisting, All it really does is make people wait until you turn towards them again before they fire. And you both end up hitting each other's CT again anyway. About the only time it ever pays to Twist is if your useing a mech with primary weapons on the arms, which lets you hold CTRL to basically shoot 'sideways'. Which ive done on my Hunchback and Ilya quite often.

Actualy got a kill a few matches ago doing that on my Ilya..took fire from the right, hit ctrl and shifted my arms to the right and fired a quick shot without ever turning the CT or slowing down/turning.

Also:

You downgraded the BLR-1Gs engine. Not a big deal, it's an Assault Mech, so speed should not really be it's priority.

Problem is, you only have ONE long range weapon, and the range on everything else is laughably short. Pulse Lasers are NOT going to get longer ranges (until the clan versions arrive), SRMS and MGs are pretty useless after 2-250 meters.

So the BLR is slow, hot and armed almost exclusively for short range, but with no ability to close that distance before it's cored. Also too much MG ammo. 2 MG are fine with a single ton.

Can't say I see the advantage.
