Is it just me, or has the number of stomps increased significantly since launch? What the hell happened to elo? I thought it was supposed to pair people up with players in their skill group, so why are these completely one sided stomps happening constantly now?

I'm leaning towards the lack of communication in game... where people "do their own thing" and somehow expect stuff to work out.

I hate to say this.. but that's working as intended™ for the most part.

If only there were better in-game tools like voice chat or even voice macros to improve the state of communication... or lack thereof.

I too, have seen an increase in pug stomps. I am guessing a small flood of new players unbalanced elo somehow.

It's not just the weekend though, it's been happening on the weekday as well, and not just prime time either.

Here's the pattern I've been seeing:

The other team is ALWAYS coordinated, and they always focus fire on individual targets.
Most of the teams I've been on don't support you, or they split up, and they almost never use any coordinated tactics. It seems to suggest that the matchmaking system is not working as intended, and is pairing up new/subpar players against elite players.

I'm not seeing this.

Sure there is the occasional ROFLSTOMP, but a lot of the matches i've been seeing have been pretty close... relatively speaking (Greater than 3/4 of the mechs destroyed on both sides), I've also seen matches where the the board was even until late in the game (7m or greater) and the loss of a single mech caused a cascade that led to a lopsided loss, but it wasn't because of "PUGs being PUGS", it was strictly due to one team getting out maneuvered.

I've come up with a theory that, if you constantly find yourself on lousy teams... maybe the team isn't the problem.

I am also seeing much worse matchmaking this weekend.

There was good for a day or two after launch, then returned to stomp territory. I suspect they backed off most of the 'narrowing' of the matchmaker. Would be interested to see if high Elo players are still having trouble finding matches.

While my win/loss ratio seems to be holding steady, I'm seeing a lot more 'bad lance' issues where a lance or two on one team has no business being in the match. I mean sub 100 dmg across the entire lance.

I still have some small hope that when CW comes out, then maybe we'll get a decent population going and things will get better.

So you're saying it must be hardware related? :)

Even if everyone was in the exact same mech the game is already unbalanced because the maps aren't symmetrical.

Not saying matches can't be closer but the game can't balance people.

YES! I'm sick of losing 90% of my matches. Even if I take myself out of the equation like a disconnect, the team I'm on shouldn't lose so CONSISTENTLY! Rage quitting is becoming the norm.

Founder and you loose 90% of your matches?

Have you tried Farmville?

actually there is another thread, titled i think games for high elo players or something like that where one of the devs stated that they had to reduce the tightening of the matchmaker a bit because some people were fail to launch 3-4-5 times in a row.

I think a few times you might be seeing this, it does happen, if there are not enough ppl on, the elo is widened a bit, but generally for me the matches have been, almost consistently, of a much higher quality since launch.

I am actually glad that we have access to stats. I can be in a slump thinking how I am constantly losing...and then I go to stats screen and see that my number of wins and number of losses both increased by same amount.

Random matchmaking is random. Looking at my three Cataphracts which have the weirdest distribution of stats:
Illya has 83 matches and 1.59 W/L ratio
-3D has 72 matches and 1.00 W/L ratio
-4X has 88 matches and 0.57 W/L ratio (I had absolutely atrocious loss streak when I started it, 2/24 after first two days. I was desperate enough to make a post asking for help on forums...)

My total W/L for last 900-1000 matches is almost exactly 1:1.

Maybe you should participate in discussions that match your intelligence and maturity level.

Strength through adversity...

or

Cower through whining...

Sounds about right.

It's a combination of 2 things: very high (or very low) Elo, and running an assault. With weight limits and all the people running 85+ ton mechs, if you want to run an assault, you're going to have issues.

Hop in a hunchback if the wait is too long, and that will probably change things dramatically. And to be honest, this is a good thing. Anything to reduce the number of assaults that are out there is good for the game.

Welcome to no-respawn modes, enjoy your stay. When one team loses a robot, the other team's firepower and health relative to theirs increases exponentially and it creates a "snowball" effect. Sure, there are some occasional awesome outlier matches where only 1 or 2 mechs are left standing and get to limp off into the sunset, but those are the exception and not the rule.

Respawn-enabled modes would too "Call of Doody" (even though respawns were invented by Doom in 1993) so you're just going to have to suck it up and learn to enjoy stomps.

I don't feel like it's random at all. I actually prefer the premade stomps/stompings over what I've been seeing about 1 week after the Beta label was removed.
