Is when someone gets ransacked by LRMs to death, then claim they are "cowards with no skill".
I mean, I like LRMs right now, but I can't help but point out how little skill it takes to...uhhh...I dunno, hide behind a giant rock?

LRM's suck right now, and take more skill than any other weapon...except maybe long range shots with a gauss.

Just give them the finger and move on. With so many counters (both soft and hard) to LRMs in the game, it's a wonder people die to that weapon system. I know I, in my founder's catapult, have to work hard to get a kill... and I don't sit back 800m away and bomb from there, either. My medium lasers get a LOT of work...

LRM users who respond with "learn to use cover" are just as bad as someone saying that LRMers are "cowards with no skill". If a person happens to be in a slow mech that is moving to a new position there are many times where any cover is a good 10-20 second walk away. That's more than enough time to be heavily damaged or destroyed by LRMs.

I'd say both sides should just s.t.f.u. and play.

People are just envious of their amazing range and massive splash; LRMs can completely cover a 'Mech's body with a blinding climax of missiles... B)

The LRMs behaviour is entirely binary: it either wrecks face, or it does nothing. They need serious redesign.

it's a team game. as often as not I run in a "Lance" that includes one missile boat. Mine.
and not a spam boat. lrm30-40 max always with support weapons. I move with my lance and use missile fire to support them. and they cover me...TEAMWORK" with 4-5 AMS in a cluster we shed missiles like rain. unles we hit a pack of spamboats.
This is how the games is meant to be played.
LRMs take skill and patience it har to score high with them. I average 3-500 dam and 6+ assists with occasional kills but my team wins 70% of our drops.

I agree and disagree. I can't stand boating them - with a team that spots they are uber. However, as a supportive weapon, they take too much attention and are too unreliable.

You need to keep the lock, which is annyoing if you have other weapons too (unlike srms)
I you shoot only 5-10 they will be shot down without doing any dmg
For a solo player, without a spotter they are to hard to handle for the little dmg they do (especial if you just take them as a support weapon) - So there is no point in taking them over Srms.

As a boating weapon with a spotter they are too strong...

90% of the time, LRMs ***** suck and do absolutely nothing.

10% of the time, the stars align and absolutely ruin someone.

LRMs are borked, still. They need a complete redesign so they are useful outside of boating/building a mech around them entirely. Remove minimum range, lower damage, increase speed and make them fire and forget -- like they have been in ever other frigging mechwarrior game. They worked before but they are {Scrap} now? I wonder why...

...maybe PGI is to blame.

Why General? Are not the tears of your enemy fuel for your weapons? :D

Long range indirect fire is a standard part of combat. Since this is a combat game, remember I don't play it to make others feel good... Unless they are on my team. :P

There's four maps that don't have good cover; terra therma, alpine, caustic and forest colony. In those maps you need to lose the vision the enemy has on you in order to avoid getting hit by LRM. If there is some light mech buzzing near your giving them vision, then it becomes difficulty to avoid getting hit by LRM.

remove minrange, make them fire and forget, make tag only visible in night/thermal vision and double the range, lower or remove narc falling off.
damage seems quite ok, what sometimes facemelts ppl is the more coherent fire due to tag/artemis/own visual bonuses stacking (that really hurts alot).
without them ~70% of your missiles wont do {Scrap}, and with the bonusses ~90% seem to actually hit, mostly registered on the ct or side torso components.

just in case youve been to lazy to hop into the testing grounds and stuff... :P
(does any of you guys at PGI actually TESTPLAY the stuff you design? bc that seriously doesent seem to be the case. *cough* )

The way I usually roll is "Holy {Scrap} lots of lrms!" :gets closer: "whew, sure glad I just decided to get too close for LRM's!"

I wish they had tears, but I use stock LRM loadouts. Atlas with 1xLRM20, Stalker with 2xLRM15 Artemis, Kintaro with 1xLRM5. Basically nerf balls or kill stealer weapons :-D. The 1xLRM5 is really fun and scary to use, as I shoot it, usually I watch as all the missiles suddenly disappear in a cloud of dust. So mostly they might have tears of laughter, but what I'm talking about is people bickering about everything in the chat, I just want to turn it off.

LRM's work just fine. As it has been point out in a few responses to this thread they are a support weapon and rely on teamwork to use effectively. That being said I'm primarily a solo player and enjoy boating this weapon system even though the chances of me getting proper support are nill. It's all a matter of how you set yourself up that will determine how well you do with the LRMs.

As for people complaining: if you haven't noticed already they'll do that over just about anything. I was once accused of cheating because I cored a spider with an AC/20. Just ignore it.

I'd also like to point out that they're not OP. Again: Defense Against the LRMs (part of your requisite class load at The Solaris School for Mechs and Mechary) is part team effort, part individual skill. ECMs are first the bane of missile locks, and massed AMS are the banes of in-flight ordinance. Cover helps and there is an abundant amount on any map you find.
