In-Game Voip. Now.

However, I predominantly play solo because it's often less of a hassle for me. It's not usually convenient for me to wait to get into a decent premade or to coordinate schedules with my friends.
Now, I usually don't have any problems playing solo at all; About 90% or more of my matches are played solo. The only time it becomes a noticeable problem is when I'm playing solo against others that are using VOIP — It's a ridiculous advantage over those that aren't using it.
I know it's been brought up numerous times by players and devs alike...but I want to keep this issue in the limelight because it's still a very serious issue that needs to be resolved. Especially if the game is to be user-friendly for new players.
Anyway...just want to put this out there again because there's a lot of players that do not (or will not) use third party VOIP like TS...and it'd be foolish for the devs to assume that players will.

Must have a mute feature that's easy to use

Would be also foolish by the devs to assume that people will be having mouse and keyboard to play the game? or should they send us a couple? VOIP should be the last concern for this game. 1000 things to do and improve before that. If you wanna compete versus players with voice communication, it is easy: get a clan or friends and install TS, dont be lazy, it only takes 2 minutes and its free.

In my opinion, it should have been a higher priority than 3PV...but whatever. Yeah...I know Russ has mentioned it's on the "wish" list of features.
Just wanted to point out that it's just as important as 3PV if not more so.

If PUG's had this abilty it would make a lot of new players like this game a lot more.

Not anymore. C3 is a lot like their tentative partnership with Razer to make the Artemis controller/joystick. Russ has mentioned that they are reviewing the feasibility of partnering with C3.
So, that C3 toggle is pretty much like the "Hardcore mode" toggle that was in the last patch before launch...they just never removed it.

As much as I'd like to clan-up, my schedule's all but impossible to coordinate. Even worse with trying to get friends (who play this game - most RL acquaintances are playing all the other FPS games). I'm holding off plunking down more cash until in-game comms are implemented.
If it never happens, then I probably saved myself a {Scrap} ton of $$$.

VOIP can wait. There's more pressing matters at the moment.

Haven't had a problem like that since the old days of Half-Life 2. A simple mute player function gets rid of that. Also, adding the option to completely disable in-game VOIP altogether further invalidates the argument against in-game VOIP.

I would suggest going to one of the public teamspeak servers:

I think there's someone online during all hours and you can just drop into a group and play without commitments. That was the way I played a lot before the 8-man game really started

Its not weird at all. FPS shooters are dieing for more thought to be put into a system like this. There is only so many voice commands even needed in fps... its more visual ques newbies need, its ALL about integrating visual ques... a few ambitious ideas, and a well thought out system could be an industry changer. Id like to see them going as far as a commanders order leading to visual ques that guide a newbie to the destination similar to GTA. Like taking them by the hand and walking them down the field. Of course this would require a dedicated 25th and 26th player being commanders, because they wouldnt have time to fight and guide at the same time >
