It doesn't matter in MWO.

y'all just gotta know how to use it. Sure, it's only good for that one volley, but being able to pop and run means no need for LOS exposure. My unit has been pretty good about landing 180 LRMs on whoever has the beacon, so we would disagree with that assessment.
Also..... if you plant that NARC beacon on the BACK of the mech, it doesn't get destroyed in that first volley.
It was buffed ages ago. It's quite useful for those with the sneaky skillz.

For example if my side torso just has a XL engine vs xl engine, heatsinks, ams, case ect.

So you're saying that with a high degree of skill and a coordinated team, NARC has a situational use?

I mean, for anyone who has a 4 man team, and tries it, it can work rather well. Just because you formed an opinion based off of poor earlier implementation and it's weight, doesn't mean it's true. Would I use one solo PUGing? Hell, I don't waste my times with LRMs or TAG at all when trying to cat herd, it's sadly every mech for itself.
But for anyone with a remotely competent team? NARC can be very useful. But by all means, keep believing the misinformed hype. And feel free to ignore me when I plant that useless beacon on your backside. Makes my job a LOT easier.
