6 months

If it were REALLY 6 months, I would be very happy right now. I'd sign for a 6 months wait. I just highly doubt we'll get anything more than phase 1 before the 6 months mark.

The one thing I am really pleased with is that .... if they keep the "flip" mechanics, there will probably be no world of tanks tournament clan wars system for scheduling merc planet capture matches. After all, it would be hard to predict and schedule around it.

If this didn't feel like 2011 all over again I'd be much less cynical

To summarize the video:

Some things will be happening and stuff and you'll be able to do things and it'll be great and factions and earning XP and CBills and there will be a purpose and this is so cool and it makes lots of sense and it's all planned out and we're working on it and my name is Brian.

Edit: Oh, and also MWO is a scam.

Bryan even slipped a few "we haven't designed that yet" or "we are still designing that" here and there. I think it is safe to say that it means all these beautiful features are still quite far away in the future.

I mean, seriously, let's face it, considering he didn't show anything that proves they are already coding these things, how is what he said any different from he told us 21 (twenty one) months ago in this article ( http://mwomercs.com/...mmunity-warfare ) ?

that was my impression too. They're probably at the "design" stage and haven't even started coding CW. The reason? UI 2.0 isn't done and they need it for that. Knowing PGI's history... I wouldn't be surprised if CW isn't coming until mid 2014.

a lot of the ideas in this video don't make sense.

for example if you are a merc corp working for 2 factions. you essentially own planets in both factions terrarory? how will that worK? or are merc corps limited to contracts from only 1 faction?

its a very very very early deisng

they relaly need to hammer it out

Of course they've started coding... didn't you see the different pilot icons for the three types of players!!! :)

"IT me" reassures me that UI 2.0 is the gate keeper to a lot of this and that they haven't started a ton of work on CW yet because UI 2.0 is the more important/immediate piece.
"cynical me" is ticked off because he wanted to see/learn something more. Truthfully, he shouldn't have revealed as much as he did on the NGNG podcasts a couple weeks back. He really did spoil his presentation with that.

I really think it's more of still in a general idea stage. All it was, was a picture of a map and some PowerPoint slides that showed absolutely nothing as far as in game content

Well they could have the entire thing programmed but have nothing to show us if enough of the art isn't in place. Of course they've said 6 months before so I'm not really taking it as a solid confirmation anyway. I wouldn't mind being surprised though at this point I'm more curious how much is being put into CW right now. If it's not much, I'll live. Though it's sort of sounded like they started it before Open Beta and yet didn't really. I just want to know when to expect to have anything to look at.

...or I'll just run off and check back later. Whichever.

Its kind of hard to say. I feel that the basic design work of CW [everything that is done before the first line of code is written: ] (design, planning, analysis, roadmap, project management) of CW is not done yet. The reason I feel that it is not done yet is that tonight's announcement was billed as the key thing for everyone to decide to buy Phoenix or not; if they had more to tell they would have told us more.

A lot of the things in Bryan Eckman's presentation are not fleshed out -- quite clearly so. I doubt that any actual coding has been done for CW, nor should it be without a precise design document.

I just find it very hard to believe that as not as this topic is if they had more of it completed they wouldn't have said to at least quiet down and give smiles to at least some of the player base

as mentioned above presentation wasnt really informative. no firm date, no final mechanics for cw. And wolf dragoons as final goal once u max out loyalty. doesnt make sense. wolf dragoons were obliterated comes jihad.

i would rather they give us unlock pattern as we reach certain loyalty milestone for certain factions. i.e davion.. unlock pattern for a green regiment (i.e march militia) up to elite level (davion heavy guards) for loyalists. For mercenaries maybe start with a green merc corp unlock to an elite reg unlock.

and maybe title grants.. i.e baron, marquis. and give us real time bonus to cbills earned or permanent cbill income regularly.

that would be more in line with battletech lore. imho.. but of course its wishful thinking

I think MWO is just about the only game in history that has given its player base absolutely NOTHING at launch.

Pretty fracking sad state of affairs I would say.

Considering they basically told us old information and barely showed us anything new, I am highly skeptical we will have CW in 6 months. At this point looking at Heavy Gear by our old friends MekTek as the next mech game that might actually have potential to be be "great". MWO had it's chance and I feel it lost it, and Hawken also sucks for being more like Call of Doodie than a mech game, so skip it

Edit: I will gladly eat my words 6 months from now if CW comes out. PGI prove me wrong, please.

While a lot of it was re-iteration of what they've told us previously it was refreshing to see more information on CW. And the main part with dates is they've slated UI 2 in the next 4 weeks so that is at least something.

Thing is, having a functioning UI for your game is kinda important. Like, you should have it quite early. Like, at launch. If it's truly the case that they need UI 2.0 before they implement major features into the game, then where is UI 2.0? This game has launched. It's gold. They're selling stuff to the public.

I don't think Brian revealed too much in the NGNG podcast. I think there is too little to show. Holding back information because you've got nothing to show does nothing but **** people off. Also, when really big milestones like LAUNCHING YOUR GAME go by with nothing new (not even new information), you have to strongly consider the possibility that the money they're making from the game is being used on things other than the game. I mean, if we were going to use Occam's razor here, wouldn't it be right to say that the simplest explanation for the lack of new content and information is that there isn't any new content or information?

He said they will give more info over the next couple weeks, and get it to test servers as soon as they can. But also said "customize mech" isn't even in there yet. So unless they their pace change from the norm, I am going to say 4 weeks is a push.

I didn't re-watch this so I might be wrong on this. But I thought some where he said phase one would immediately follow UI2.0 and Phase one was months away? hell idk, Im tired.
