Unfortunately the common sense you just displayed (that some agreed with) directly contradicts everyone else's defense of the hard point system and how it shouldn't be restricted.

I believe tag should be a module, take up a module slot and cost x amount of C-Bills to purchase, although I don't think it should necessarily need to be unlocked via the pilot skill tree.

I also agree that in the current system, it should not occupy the same hard point space that say a PPC or LL does..........but then a PPC or LL shouldn't be able to fit where a ML or SL was either............can't take that away though or you'll have the whiners out in force crying about lack of customization ability on the otherwise "boring" stock mechs.

It's a"team game" where 90% of people PUG and most are not on vchat. Meaning is a solo game in teams - besides, the guy getting the kill gets 75% of the reward. Why on earth would I want to help somebody I've never met and will likely see again get a bonus, especially when it means I actually sacrifice something?

Are we still talking about the competition at the launch party...? Organized play > PUG games, sorry...

We are? Why? It's done and over with.

I'm looking at the future now and seeing that the launch party only made specific things very apparent and am hoping PGI takes notice - but likely they won't.

1. I love this game!

2. ECM still is a mess. Totally. But as it is working as intended I will just take a break on MWO, play something else and see how it is looking in a few weeks or so.

3. I always use tag.

It just just be like BAP. A piece of extra equipmunk that you can place anywhere. TAG isn't worth a module slot.

Yes, that is easily possible. You just need a small LRM launcher (LRM5), a TAG laser and someone to annoyingly say "Stay on Target" over and over until you are in range to hit his exhaust port (Just watch out for that black Jenner running behind you).

I would really like to see the weapon and loadout breakdown stats from the tourny. Not sure if that's realistic, but it would be sweet!

No all it proved to the NERF LRMS THEY ARE OP crowd is that LRMs are so powerful the Devs banned them from the official tourney! Behind the scenes, ofc!

Except not. Without ECM the DDC is no better than the 3rd best Atlas. 4th if you count the new Hero Atlas.

This is why they need to make artillery strikes better.

I'd even accept them being as gimped as LRMs, so long as they were REALLY REALLY POWERFUL (that is, making them slow and making it obvious where they were going, but really putting the hurt on when they arrived).

If a mech with TAG got 1/2 a point of damage for every 1 point of damage a friendly mech with lrms did to the enemy (whilst taged) you would see so much 'lrms are stupidly op' on forums they'd have to shut them down.

TAG + LRMs = lethal. (particularly if that TAG is on an ecm spider).

They require teamwork to be effective, and since 1 member of the team gets nothing while the other reaps all the rewards, you just don't see it much at the moment.

Sorry but you are wrong.
The amount of gear and conditions needed to make LRM's even viable in the game let alone PUG's means they are just a Novelty atm.

If a ECM Broken hit box, err I mean Spider is dumb enough to stand still for you 200m away you might leg him. With line of sight + Artemis and TAG I have landed 4-5 40 round salvo's on their heads and they run away or run up and kill me.
