Correct me if i am wrong but faction play seems to be not very appealing right now and only slightly different to lone wolf.

Game modes are the same as today.
You will be able to choose the map to some extent.
Contracts only bounty.
Rewards for leveling the standing, discounts and camo of known faction units.

Lone Wolf play
Same game modes
Lotsa contracts
Rewards for levelig the standing, discounts.

It's all still being worked out.

Don't take the info in that presentation as concrete, firmed up information. Everything they have could still be scrapped at this point in favor of something else.

If you really want engaging faction play, it appears that one only need to start countless threads and polls about the desire to NOT have an engaging faction warfare system.

Then they're sure to put it in.

They do get to choose what front/planet they want to fight for, controlling the overall direction the entire House is headed.

It's either done by a House wide vote or just a vote of the major players of the House.

But your right, if Loyalist is not very in depth when compared with Merc play, I foresee too little players for House players. This issue would present a problem.

I wouldnt wonder if alot of house units would go merc unit and simply roleplay that they are still a house unit.

That's the problem, I'm already hearing units in our "House" saying either
"We're going to have to change our name to one of the "Cannon" Units"
or
"We're going to have to go Merc and just be loyal to the house"

It'd be nice if they thought it through and saw that there are already communities representing the factions in the game, many predating the existence of the game, that number HUNDREDS of players, and in them are numerous 'units' both cannon and non-cannon, then provided an option for them to create "Elite Units" that have some of the options that Merc units will have (Logistics, planetary assault/defense, customization, etc.) but have no need for the "bounty" or "contract" systems.

Now lets guess what PGIs response would be.

Faction Units are not our target demographic.

As this is their excuse for alot of things.

Yeah

It's not like it would require them to create anything new, in fact it would be the same system they're putting in for mercs with LESS features. And would go a long way for the Loyalists who have known all along that regardless how much time/money they have/will invest, they're just content for the mercs.

MPBT 3025 did a great job with faction warfare and is often cited as the "model" a lot of people would like to see, which is why PGI will completely ignore it in favor of something that will be as flaccid as their "launch" and their "CW Reveal".

They have an opportunity to do something amazing, unfortunately I have the feeling that they'll just go for the low hanging fruit.

I believe they said Faction Mechs would be more available to Faction players but could be incorrect on that.

I think you can get faction mechs on the black market, but you're going to have to pay an arm and a leg for them.

I suspect every single mech will be available on the black market and/or MC. If you want to acquire them "normally" then your House has to control the production planets for those mechs (justification for engaging in CW).

It may be interesting to have to pay for repairs for non-Faction Mechs outside your Faction. If we get a C-bill pay raise that is.
