As the title says. In the current meta what are the pros and cons of streak SRMS vs SRMS with Artermis?

They are very different weapons.
Streaks are homing weapons that require lock to fire, and lock onto random locations on the mech. Very nice vs small fast targets that don't need a lot of concentrated damage to drop.

SRM's even with Artemis are still dumb fire. They fly straight in a cluster and hit more or less where you aim. While they don't seek a little careful aim makes the more effective if you can hit the target. Also not bothered by ECM.

IMO Streaks are nice to pick up and boat, but with some practice aiming SRM's themselves are probably more effective.

What corison said.

Also, if you boat streaks to hunt lights and find yourself facing off against a heavy or assault, chain fire the streaks. They have good shake and smoke which might distract your opponent long enough to disengage into cover with out receive too much well aimed return fire.

In pug matches I am scoring 400 to 900 damage with an average of 2.5 kills a match with my Kintaro-18 and Kintaro-19 ...boating 5 SSRMS and 4 SSRMS respectively. I take on lights up to most heavies without much problem. I have to be smart about it obviously as SSRMs are random where they land. I use Medium lasers to augment the build. One of the biggest dangers is when there are two fast ECM mechs that confuse / overwhelm my poor little beagle. Tourney drops / 12 mans I primary function is to push the Jenner-F's away or two swat spiders.

Btw, when using streaks equip Artemis as well..

Streaks benefit from decreased lock on time (but is not supposed to)... Working as intended B)

Thank you for the quick replies and clarification. I think I'll continue using regular Artemis-equipped SRMS as I'm mostly playing heavier mechs and not hunting lights as much.

Mabye you can save weight:
Use srm6 with artemis
srm4 work pretty well without artemis - they do not spread so much like srm6 does
srm2 - there is still no use of it: use ssrm2 instead --> more damg, homing

Just because no ones mentioned it yet, streaks being homing weapons require a lock on <just like LRM's. This means they're countered by ECM and unlike LRM's and SRM's cannot be blind fired <Fired without a lock>

So if you end up fighting an ECM equipped light mech its very likely you would not be able to use your SSRM's, which is annoying as they are exactly the type of little ****** you would want to fire them at.

I use Streaks as my backup weapon in my Victors. Lights are allergic to taking damage and firing a couple of them along with Medium Lasers is very convincing in the argument that said Light mech should go harass some other Assault.

SRM's are in need of a buff, or at the very least Artemis/Hit Detection improvements.

Streaks on the other hand are pretty decent as is. Especially 6 of them on my A1. :P
