Razer Is Not As Cool As You Think

However, from what I hear, Razer's quality is very dependent on the type of product. Their mice are generally pretty solid, but their keyboards and microphones are pretty much {Scrap} (and the launch event pretty much proved that).

I think I'll stick with the G500/G700.

I have to say that the construction quality & longevity of current Razer gear is not what it used to be. I've recently swapped to a Roccat Kone XTD mouse & couldn't be happier. The driver GUI is the stuff of nightmares but the mouse itself is the best I've ever used.
*shrug* I used to be a hard-core Razer fan. Now? Not so much. Apparently at some point quality became a distant second to profit, whereas it used to be a much closer second.

Tell your stupid friends to stop spewing mountain dew all over the hardware everytime they hear a girl's voice on voice coms.

I'm thinking for sure mine doesn't compare to 'gaming' mice, in general. I've never been even the slightest bit attracted to a 'gaming' mouse, though. I'm not sure what the lure is, to be honest.

So yeah. +1 for Razer. The slimline keyboards they used to make were extremely awesome as well.
I have a LOT of direct IT and hardware experience - this is not a fanboi post. Razer stuff is by far the best I've ever used - crapping all over Logitech for the simple reason that Logitech has no logic to their designs - they just cram more needless junk on their stuff than they ever should and it makes for bulky and buggy products.

Am I a {Noble MechWarrior}? Not at all. I'd buy Logitech or SteelSeries or any others. I've had Logitech, Microsoft (Natural keyboard and original Optical mouse), Apple (for an iMac), and even generic {Scrap} I can't even remember the name for. The only one I've ever had a problem with is the Apple mouse -- the "ball" they have in place of the wheel wore out. Would I bad-mouth any of them? Nope, not even Apple. Computer hardware dies -- they don't make it like they used to.

I had the misfortune this weekend of being in Worst Buy, when I came across the new 2014 naga redesign. I thought there wasn't much room for improvement over last year's model, and I was WRONG! Naturally, my wife was more than a little upset that I bought yet ANOTHER mouse. . . mostly because she took one look at it and wanted to know where HERS was

I have been using this mouse for about 8 months VERY heavily, and have had no problems whatsoever.
I bought the Razer Naga MMO 2012 version which comes with 3 differently shaped side pieces to fit your hand perfectly.
I also have a Logitech G35 Headset that I bought at the same time and I love it too!
Both have high quality braided cloth covered cords, and I take VERY good care of them all, but everything gets dropped or yanked occasionally, and both have worked great!
For those who have a brand preference, just remember, every company makes high, mid and lower end products.
I can't speak to the "bang for the buck" because when I bought my Naga, I was for the first time wanting the best I could afford, and I poured over many many reviews, and chose the Naga not because of it's brand (I have mostly used logitech in the past just because it was what was available, worked and was reasonably priced) but because of it's quality and positive reviews not only for performance, but ease of use.
I am not a young gamer, and I was very happy with the VERY simple 1 - 12 button system that is default for the mouse, meaning out of the box, no programing needed, just map buttons 1 - 12 from your keyboard accordingly.
I am sure there are other mice by other companies that are just as good, maybe some are even better for less money, however, I have had such a good experience (you really should try a high quality gaming mouse, it's the difference between driving a delivery truck and a sports car with tunable suspension on a race track!!) I would never go to anything less.
The light crisp buttons, (if you have firearms, like the difference between a stock and tuned trigger!) the super accurate optics make all the difference in the world over a standard optical mouse. (don't forget a gaming quality mouse pad too!)
I used to use just higher DPI microsoft/logitech mice that were multi-purpose, and I have had such a good experience, I decided to buy last month for my birthday a Razer Nostromo game pad, and Blackwidow Ultimate keyboard to test out (I buy from Bestbuy of the things they usually stock in-store since I hate to buy a head-set, mouse or keypad that I can't first test to see how it fits me, if I have to order, usually I go with Newegg).
I like to have something in my hands to feel and see the quality of it, that is why I tend to go to Bestbuy for many things, and I had the nightmare experience of buying a lemon (I won't mention the PC manufacturer, and Bestbuy no longer sells their products) but I will say that I have had the exact opposite experience with Bestbuy.
They warrantied the product which failed with the first PC (first time HD, videocard AND ram died in days) the second time it was just a minor problem of a mini HDMI cable to HDMI adaptor not being provided (I would avoid any card that uses them, the sockets are very prone to being broken from the weight of a full sized HDMI cord) but Bestbuy fixed it all, and I have the high-end gaming PC that I wanted in the end for a bit more than I would have paid at Newegg (maybe $100 - $200 more) but with the support in-store that I could use in person, same day instead of mailing things made it all worth it to me.
I'm sure there are mice in different price points by many different manufacturers that might out-perform others, but never say "company X sucks!".
There are just as many examples of higher end quality car manufacturers making some lemons (Ferarri? Lamborghini anyone?

Razer bought the rights to the Belkin Nostromo n52 so it's not really their device in anything but the addition of the brand. I burned out my Belkin device and am quite happy with the new version.

This is my current setup as well. I had a nostromo blow out unplugging and replugging it in so I bought an orbweaver and no longer hot plug the device.
I will hang my free dice as well even though the comms software is already uninstalled.

for me:
Logitech
-ergonomics better.
-drivers slightly better.
-Setpoint is annoying but improving.... an inch per decade.
-build quality better.
-uglier
Razer
-better marketing/sponsored events
-cool themed stuff if you're into that sorta thing
-better middle button. (serious... logitech middle buttons are terrible. scrolly middle glowy button on razers are usually awesome)
-looks badass
-rubbery finish attracts all kinds of nasties
-lighter
I recently bought a G710+ mechanical keyboard to try out. It's build quality is superb, heavy as a brick, and has very satisfying clicks, macro functions and backlights. My G15 at work feels all mushy now. :/ A word of warning though... much louder than regular keyboards when typing fast... but..oh so. satisfying.

I've since found better options for mechanical keyboards. I'm currently using a Tesoro Durandal customized by maxkeyboard.com, and mousing on either a Logitech G9x or ASUS GX1000 ROG (won it in a contest but it seems solid so far).

Personally, I like the Logitech G600 better (and the G13 over the Nostramo), so I've switched to entirely Logitech hardware except for my work machines, but the Razer stuff works.
