By Chance? Yes but a high chance
Only because some people have been conditioned to check all potential information sources, as PGI has shown that they will not be consistent in how they deliver critical information. Next time it might be on Facebook... or maybe on Bryan Ekman's twitter feed.... or maybe ... or maybe...
The people bringing this up would just like to see a regular and reliable single-source for information about MWO, from the developers.

Starting what could very well be a long patch at 10:00am pacific time, right before a lot of Europeans (aka a ton of paying customers) get home from work, is not great customer service. My main account that I actually play on has been perma-banned for getting into an argument with a mod about my right to comment on the intelligence of the business decisions behind their patching schedule, so I'll refrain from making any more serious remarks.
I'll just say that the most successful mmo in history patches at 5:30am pst, not 10.

Why not just make the UAC5 and AC5 pull from the same bin like SRM's.

I do understand this whish. I wish they would do so. But why bother going on about it now, it did work this time, again, somehow.
I do not care much how information gets to me

Yeah, after someone mentioned that they posted an update on twitter.
I work in marketing, so I feel a bit obligated to have a twitter account just to research things in my industry. I have zero tweets so far, as I'm not the principle pr guy. I have it set for zero notifications, because the vast majority of PGI tweets are the equivalent of spam, much like their facebook posts telling me to go check out the latest NGNG uninformative softball question hugging session with the devs.
As a marketing professional, it's pretty much a customer outreach fail if you're relying on an incredibly small portion of your playerbase to relay important information that you only communicate to platforms that aren't used by your principal audience. The games been in open beta for a year, and 25+ year olds who didn't use twitter a year ago still aren't using it for the most part. Yet their communications team still insists on using it for important notifications.
It's called bad customer relations..........which incidentally is one of the principle complaints that founders and other dedicated money-spenders have voiced.
Don't listen to me though. I'm just a marketing professional responsible for communicating content and features to over 1 million registered users of my company's services.
You're upset because someone told you about an update on twitter about an update that was posted yesterday on the forums? Where exactly are they supposed to tell you about an update where you won't get your underwear in a bind? People that live on the forums get upset if anything is posted anywhere but the forums. But the playerbase of this game (or any game) is by and large not on the game forums. Where are they? Facebook, twitter, G+, reading gaming news sites, etc.

Not only that, but why would PGI even think about encouraging people to come to the forums? There is no sign of intelligent life here at all. Zero. This place is a barren wasteland of angst and tears, populated solely by Drama QQueens with the social skills of a dead elm tree.
Oh the irony.
