I don't understand why you laugh? Your game is dying and you laugh? I played for all of 20 minutes after the last patch, because after one match i got "failed to find a match" with every single mech i own. GG

Heffay...no snark? No snappy comeback defending PGI and everything they do? I expect better from you. Or maybe that was all you had? Because maybe you felt the rightness of the comment you were laughing at?

I refuse to spend anything more on this game. I am not alone in this. PGI really really needs to come out with everything they have, if they want to last...

Withholding ANYthing at this point is just a bad move, and it's a move that PGI keeps making. Over and over again.

Wonder why?

And now please address my main point as to why the size of a company affects the ability to release visual references of work in progress.

You can tell it's dying by all the work they are doing trying to get you and the rest of the #savemwo crowd back. Both of you. Bending over backwards, they are. Splitting queues up, getting rid of ghost heat... yup. Dying. They are literally dying.

Not hiring people, laying others off, shutting down data centers and selling the production hardware they just purchased to move the game to...

....must....keep...straight....face...

And now please address my main point as to why the size of a company affects the ability to release visual references of work in progress.

most companies don´t... if we stick to GTA, you certainly know that they are VERY secretive with ingame content unless it´s VERY close to be released... same goes for other firms... Neverwinter released very few informations, not to mention visual content, until they were close to beta... PGI does nothing different...they give us pics, when the stuff is close enough to release-ready... no car company releases their blueprints of a prototype (not counting concept studies), hell they even try to camouflage their erlkings before they are ready to release them to the public...

not saying PGI is quick on production :D ... just that - compared to size, backing funds, investors and many other factors - they do the same as everyone else... just way slower :(

regarding hawken? yea, not a big comapny either...but take a look at who pre-funded that games production, i´d say they were very lucky or had some good connections :P

"February 27, 2012 5:00 AM
Meteor Entertainment has raised $10 million in a bid to launch a downloadable online game calledHawken.
The large amount of funding for a studio that has only one unpublished game in the works is a big bet, but one that the backers are making with a great deal of confidence. The investors include Benchmark Capital and FirstMark Capital, the same investors who backed the highly successful Riot Games, maker of League of Legends"

if anything, PGI made the "mistake" to try the whole thing on their own, not looking out for huge backers... if you see the commercial campaigns of the most games you mentioned, you can be sure that those campaigns alone would break PGI´s neck financially.

Quote from article...
New information on MechWarrior Online’s Community Warfare came to light at the game’s launch event in San Francisco last week, describing for the first time how the upcoming expansion might function.
So now CW is an expansion not a core pillar of the game, and secondly it Might , not will. Might. And some talk of contracts. Thats it nothing more, thats not info thats conjecture, what a useless article, why even waste space in a magazine ( i suppose PC Mag gets paid for its space, useless info or not).

Ignore my point more.

Full transparency or close up shop. Because honestly that is one thing that *might* save MWO in the long run....might.

And for the record i don't use twitter. Or belong to any group focused on saving this game.

But i DO care. If i did not i would not be here wasting text on a game i can't even play half the time. Which is 100% PGI's fault. Before the April 2nd, 2013 patch i could play in my native resolution(1600x900) at an acceptable framerate(30-40 FPS). Now i have to go WAY below native resolution and put everything on low just to get 25-30 FPS. Not acceptable.

Until i see proof that the MWO playerbase is growing, then yes in my mind it is dying.

see, that´s a whole personal PoV... some of us are exhausted and tired of the game, and some of us aren´t ...( i and most of my friends aren´t, btw)

it´s your good right to say "i don´t like the game anymore", but assuming that you are "everyone" in the MWO crowd, is not really justifiable

and you are - again - refering to a game that has a budget to begin with, that is larger than MWO´s over it´s whole course so far... Mr. Roberts surely knows how to create a hype... in a way i am happy that PGI doesn´t have that understanding :P
if you are looking for a better reference, take a look at Shadowrun online, that´s more compareable

but i somehow agree...maybe PGI missed a more agressive Kickstarter campaign in the first place, but i´d say that was just bad timing... if i´m right, Kickstarter just started to become really acknowlefged when MWO was in preproduction...

I still log in and play, even though i get 20FPS or less most of the time. But waiting for 10-20 minutes just to get one crappy match? No thanks...i'll check back on the next patch like i always do.

I believe Bryan stated that they would bring back the player counter when the numbers can not be "misunderstood" or some such thing. Yeah well when/if that happens, i'll go back to being a {Noble MechWarrior}.

But until then, yeah go right ahead and sink money into a game that you will not be able to play 2 years from now. Personally, I have better investments to make.

EDIT:LOL!!!!!!! W hite K night is censored!!! LOLOLOLOL !!!! That is incredibly telling. I bet that this is the only forum in existence that censors that particular phrase.

i sometimes sink 20 bucks into a Pizza that i have already forgotten the next day... no problem to sink some money into a product that i can enjoy for several month... but to each their own, as i said :P

and now, g´night everyone

And this is my point. Even before they've made their game engine they are releasing stuff to tease their expectant communities with.

Why has PGI released absolutely no imagery of even the most basic level of CW in two years? Not one snippet. No screenies, videos, dev diaries or wallpapers. All we've heard about it in two years is a video of a powerpoint presentation at the LAUNCH party and the lead developer talking about how their upcoming "expansion" (!??!) might (MIGHT!?!?!) function.

Because they can't. Because there is none.

I dare them to prove me wrong.

False duality. MWO can survive just fine without giving you the info you demand. Or without you. Not enough people on your island to affect the game either way.
