@parduke ...Also We have adjusted engine weight....

Anybody else curious about this and whether or not that would allow for another certain light mech to be deployed? :P

Since the Spider is on a presumably straight road surface cannot we use the laws of perspective to scale and place the Spider at the front and bottom of the picture adjacent to the Locust?

I was on the fence about the locust -- the speed cap was gonna be the deal breaker. Sounds like that won't be an issue though.. If so, it'll be the first time I by MC in like 6 months.. I'm excited. ;)

Looks nice. But it looks more like 10 tons, not 20.

2 MGs are only the stock loadout. the hardpoints allow for four of 'em, which is much better.

I have no idea what this statement means.

They can't modify the engine weights without breaking the stock builds. The only thing I can think they are doing is modifying how their system works for base 10 heatsinks for engines smaller than 250.

Right now, their system takes the base engine weight from CBT, adds the weight of the gyro and cockpit to the engine, then subtracts the missing inside heatsinks so that when you add those heatsinks back, you will get the correct weight.

What PGI should have done is that when you add an engine that has heatsinks outside the engine, they get special engine heatsinks that weigh 0.0t and must be added until you hit the base 10. And this is the only thing I can think of them saying "Also We have adjusted engine weight".

This would make sense because I think the very small XL engines, like the 120 XL, has weight issues and it's very possible a Locust user would might run an 120 XL.

120 XL = 2.0t
MWO 120 XL = 2.0t + 2.0t gyro + 1.0t cockpit - 5.0t for outside heatsinks = 0.0t (which the 120 XL engine ingame weighs 0.5t, thus is 0.5t too heavy)

What is means is that they are taking a lot of the engines that have the same weight. 150Xl -170 XL and putting some variety in them.

3 tons, 3.25 tons, 3.5 tons, 3.75 tons, ect ect.

Dividing a ton up into quarter doesn't make a lot of sense on something with 35+ tons, but getting down into the 20's it can make a lot of difference and give someone a reason to pack a 150 over a 170 because they won't weight the same

I wouldn't speculate too much about the engine weight bit. Barring no further details it could be anything.

So let's just leave it be until then. :D

Well, that is interesting, if true. It would break so many things if they did this.

They will invalidate other engines in the process if they do this. The reason why some mech engine weights are the same for different ratings is because mechs could only equip engines equal to a multiple of their tonnage. So going back and making modifications to give reasons to players to equip different engine weights will just break the balance by invalidating other engine ratings.

Also, doing this would destroy the stock loadouts by making them either too heavy or too light if they are built with any of the modified engines.

That is why I make the conjecture that they are fixing the cockpit, gyro, engine, and below 250 engine rating situation. You would have to modify the engine weights to get them equal to the weight they are suppose to be.

I would extremely surprised if they enforced the engine rating to mech tonnage rule. So many players would but up in arms about this because it makes many current "meta" builds become invalid now.
