From the looks of things, the standard Locust cockpits will be less obstructive.
If you look at the Phoenix Locust concept art, it has an extra roll-cage/bar-net-thing around the cockpit.

its cool looks fun, being the smallest mech your going to be looking up most the time or going eyeball to eye ball with a comando

The cockpit looks cool, but man is it restrictive. It will take some getting used to. I am not going 3PV.

The cockpit view is way too cluttered. I guess this is their attempt to balance out a mech that is already going to have a hard time surviving by making it impossible to see as well?

Not like Valve didn't just register half life 3.. Can we stop the half life 3 confirmed jokes considering half life 3 actually has been confirmed?

Why is there 8 heatsinks on the lower right monitor cockpit image? XL200?

I think that's what they want... to force players into 3PV to use the locust... doesn't matter the motion blur and bobbing really throws me giant headaches... or the fact that means the competitive nature (if there was any) of the locust in the 12 queue is deflated...

Simply because all Kuang did was take the hud layout from another mech (that could be running the 200XL) and overlay it on the image to demonstrate how the UI overlays the cockpit structure, and that's at a stock fov of 60. I can imagine those with custom fov will be further hampered.
