Yes you can.... and that is something to think about. I do think we should be able to be told and or let it show up in the player list.

I can see the matchmaker putting same factions to same lances at the moment. If I pug solo I might be in a lance full of FRR. Premades everywhere, oh no!
And there's nothing to be afraid of Liao. Goons? HAHA.

This only works for groups picking a house. Most of us Merc corps are not going to work for one house so we drop without such tags.

Matchmaker put me in a lance all composed of pilots that had picked Fed Suns, but I didn't know any of them and certainly wasn't in a premade with them (though the other 3 might have been for all I know). Going by affiliation is no way to judge whether your going up against a premade. I would like to see an indicator in the pre-match screen showing the premades, just to get an idea of how often they truly make a difference, and on average how often I play against them.

To be completely honest, if there was an in-game voice chat, I'd be more inclined to Solo Drop more often. As it is, I prefer dropping with my Shieldwall brethren because I can actually communicate with them in a timely manner.

The Elo system of matchmaking can NOT function properly when it's trying to match groups with solo players. I understand they need players to fill the gaps for groups...that's cool. But, I want the option to not be fodder for the premades.
I'd easily wait an extra minute or so in the match queue as long as I knew I was playing against players that were also solo.

Pugged quite a lot lately and seen as many as 3 premades in one team. Before you tell me how I can tell, it is really simple. Been playing a while and you get to remember names from the game etc. Most of this can be seen during US prime time, some during Euro time before Eastern players go to bed. Not that common, but very annoying to see it as usually it is a pug stomp for the premades and frustration to self as there is little you can do.

I don't see this happening in WoT at all with the premades in the match shown. (for both sides, not just your own).......
I don't see why it would be any different here......?

Correct..... in fact I am now seeing it more then ever myself. I would rather know what I am up against.. MUCH LIKE THEY HAVE THAT ADVATAGE themselves of doing so.
In fact, they have a leg up on that before they even drop. Nevermind the communications or the cohesiveness that happens from playing together or knowing what your team mates loadout is or mech is for that matter, knowing how to focus fire or knowing how to stay together taking out one mark at a time...where to be etc.. etc.. etc.. ALL of that over a PUG is enough I would think to feel bad for the premade groups. The ELO system is failing on a large scale and last night I saw it more so.
We need to have the choice to drop single player or premade period. Before I lose more friends saying this is a imbalanced game and nobody is left to shoot things with that 30 dollar mech you bought. I am seeing some bad rolling going on and it's really just a waste of time for me. I myself dare say I am to the point... that If I see same color mechs... (which is like the fastest giveaway lol) I am just exiting the drop and going on to another mech to play...
Why? Because it is a waste of hopeless time to fight when you can almost smell the premade win now after doing it a year ... you can just tell how bad it will be. If you know you have the odds stacked against you going in before the first laser fires, it becomes useless. Now if I knew I was in a all pug match.. then at least it would be a worthy time use. But knowing that 2 groups of 4 kids in basements grouped up talking on vent is going to "pwnzer" you... in seconds then really it just becomes another messed up multiplayer game online.

1. I combat this by assuming that every lance on the other side is a premade
2. The game is moving away from this, and by design. From the beginning its been billed as a team, role based game. Yes, there is functionality that still needs to be added so that Solo PuG players can functionally communicate, but its in the que. And with CW, every drop in the game will be factionaized.
3. This is a level of defeatism that I'm not really capable of. Does not compute. see #4.
4. I would submit to you that the only premades that are stomping you are the GOOD ones. there are countless premades out there of folks who are just casual players who have no more skill or tactical knowledge than any of the rest of the people in there drop. They are just Going as a 4 man becasue they enjoy playing with their friends. I can attest to this personally, as when I first got started, I played in premades a ton, and we got stomped and rolled all the time. Were we that terribad? Nope. But we also werent experts. we were just having fun with our friends. Premades are not invulnerable juggernaughts.
I'm of a mind that a more functional solution that dropping a match at the sight of a premade, (thus further crushing your own teams chances) would be for the Elo system to calculate a Lance Based Elo for premades, and to add that to the matchmaking system. Ie. if Team A has a high level premade lance in it, Team B gets one also. That way, even if there is a premade that you spot on the other team, you know you have similar cohesion on your own team.

If you honeslty believe that BREAKING UP a premade that is probably on TS and knows each other (read: That communicates more in 30 seconds that the rest of the company does in 5 matches) is a GOOD idea, neither I nor anybody else can help you, sorry.
The fact that most "premades" are in reality "pugs w/TS " notwithstanding....
