All this proves is that PGI says UI 2.0 is coming soon. Just like they have been saying for quite sometime, which leads me to believe that the word "soon" has a different meaning in Canada.

It has a different meaning in much of the industry all around the world, man. Didn't you know? Here, read this, and you'll understand: http://www.wowwiki.com/Soon

Sorry to disappoint... But, it's true, you see. %)

I vote this thread be taken down, as there is no "proof" here, only the typical PGI line, that we have been fed again and again.

"It's coming guys, here's the plans for it."

Oh yeah? When?

"Um...soon...ish."

"Soon" has the same meaning in canada as in almost any games company i ever witnessed to produce a game... really nothing special or unique to PGI... if anything, PGI holds up to game developers traditions

Agreed. They uphold the tradition that this s*it is hard and those who do not understand that, will never understand and simply fill in that ignorance with more ignorance.

Just the infrastructure for an Online Game like MWO would be staggering. To say nothing of the millions lines of game code that need be dealt with.

But that is alright. Soon is close enough for some. ;)

At this point, I'll believe it only once it's actually in with regards to any feature.

Yeah, I played WoW for years, so I am quite well acquainted with Blizzard time! Funny article though. My thing is, you would think that developers would learn from one another's mistakes, but some folks at PGI seem hell bent on not learning from their own mistakes.

Maybe I am giving them a bit too much of a hard time, but I know how things coming soon has played out in the past with PGI and other devs, so my attitude is to believe it when I see it. I hope they nail it and have UI 2.0 on the test server within four weeks of this event like Bryan said, but I will not be holding my breath.

I do see UI 2.0 becoming important down the road, regardless of the wait.

However, DX11 support is on some backburner because of some bug... and that was explained to us nearly a month ago with no resolution (still waiting for that future test date on the public test server).

Soon™ has too much leeway of not having an actual update.

Wow the amount of tears that have accumulated in this thread. The proof is that they have something that actually functions, at least partially from the small 'teaser' that we get to see. That means that they have the framework down and a lot of the functionality worked out, and when he starts throwing terms around such as, "Something you'll be seeing within the next four weeks." And, "Community Warfare will be rolling out in phases over the next six months." It gives us at least a vague idea of what 'soon' can be.

If nothing else, it also proves some of these tinfoil hat-wearing people who insist that UI 2.0 is "just a myth" otherwise. It's a sad, sad day when I'm the most optimistic person in the room...

Oh well, I still enjoy this game, I still look forward to UI 2.0/CW, no matter how late either arrive, and there isn't a damn thing this forum-crying over the most nonsensical things can do to change that.

I'm not trying to excuse PGI in any way here; but while I was busy doing better things I put on that three hour interview with NGNG that happened a while ago, and Bryan says that the holdup was the game becoming unbearably buggy, and the whole engineering side of PGI getting bogged down in fixing cryengine and their own code from earlier.

So there you go, that's what they were doing. Not sure what exactly it was they fixed or why it took so long, but that's what they were doing. I'm also going to say that while it was nice that he communicated this to us at all, a three-hour long audio interview is going to be listened to by almost no one, which means communication could maybe be a bit better.

Haha, I shouldn't be surprised. It is a complete mystery to me how they decide what information goes through what medium. It's not like there's tidbits on their actual site and a detailed explanation in the video, either. That'd be understandable.

And it was said that it would be available at TS shortly after launch.

So much about that.

I want to be angry and upset about how slow the game is being developed...I REALLY do.

Then I look at my base stats and see that I have played 9,577 matches, and realize that I have had a TONS of fun with the game so far. Still not 'burned out', and can't wait to get my hands on another 12 mechs six days from now.

I want UI 2.0 and CW, but I want them to WORK....PGI don't rush to put out a half-assed product. Take you time and do it right the FIRST TIME.

As a Vancouverite, I'm sorry.
