Didn't they elect another Smoke Jaguar ilKhan after Ulric Kerensky died? Seems to me they weren't -that- horrified by the Jags.

almost 8 years later, yeah.

And I'm sure part of the maneuvering for his position included "Leo was ilKhan for 2 years, we make it like 80% of the way to Terra, then he died honorably in battle, Ulric takes over, 7 years of squabbles in the OZs, then drags two clans down with him refuting charges of treason and genocide. I think we all know what clan can get the job done." :)

or stop making topics like these and wait to see what the dev's have to say about how they will run things like proper players instead of being fear mongering change haters.

If you base the game in the 3049 invasion time frame you end up dealing with the horrible balance issues of the clans. It is just best to avoid dealing with them all together.

You have balanced forces, none of this *** Clan tech is so OP, junk. And you dont have to listen to the constant whining by people wanting to play their favorite clan-tech IS mech that hasnt been invented yet. (See the Innersphere Omni mech thread).

So my suggestion is to best avoid the clans, just dont bother with them. You will be able to model more mechs and have less to balance. If you just stick with the Forth Succession War in the 3020s.

There was no advanced tech, no ER Lasers, No ER PPCs, no Pulse lasers, or Beagle probes. Just good cold hard WAR. No Trueborn, or freeborn. Just Kurita vs Davion vs Liao, vs Marik vs Stiener.

QQ more, they already announced when the time line is set so cry all you want it can not change the fact. Just hope they get the story line correct for all those MechWarrior junkies like me.

Don't forget that a Jade Turkey got to be ilKhan as well, although he got killed pretty soon afterwards, paving the way for Lincoln.

Unfortunately Il-Kahn Showers didn't get the chance to die in battle. (yes, I said unfortunately) He was taken out when an Inner Sphere Aeropilot flew her craft into the bridge of his flagship. Almost took out Ulric, Natasha and Phelan as well IIRC.

It was naval battle, but it was still battle.

Heck, the Raven's would buy it. :)

Perhaps I'm too big a fan of the novels, but I like the setting they've chosen. Heck even Liao gets a chance to shine in it.
