Has it been addressed how easy/difficult switching factions will be? Can it even be done? I could see people jumping between house loyalty and merc outfits pretty often.

Mercs will only loose some part of their "popularity" in the faction they go away from.
As for house members, we know next to nothing, sorry.

I think it will affect the amount of loyalty points you earn. You can play as any faction but if you do play multiple factions you won't rise up the ranks as fast, than if you played one faction.

Oh yes, I forgot about the loyalty point system. They haven't talked about that in a while, have they?

Changing it will probably be as easy as clicking your allegiance icon, but, as BVGB said, you will likely start at 0 with your new homies.

I agree. What I read on loyalty points seemed to suggest that a player could get loyalty points for more than one house. Maybe there will be alliances or the ability to ally with players for the sake of friends teaming I don't know. But there is a good chance we can switch allegiance at a cost.
Hopefully the game is that flexible. It will be fun.

I suspect lone wolves or mercs can get loyalty with multiple factions.
