For me it was:
IS Black Knight MW4 Merc version, Longbow (either SRM/SSRM/LRM builds), or Sunder.
Clan Timber Wolf MKII, Stone Rhino (METEK), or Shadowcat.

Fire Moth, Mist Lynx or Urbanmech for Lights.
Stormcrow or Starslayer for Mediums.
Catapult, Loki, Warhammer, Thantos, Mad Cat for Heavies.
Atlas, Dire Wolf, Gladiator for Assaults.

Funny story about the Warhammer, I've been running a bunch of test, between a stock WHM-6R vs a stock MAD-3R, and the Warhammer is boasting close to a 80% win rate...

no big surprise - the Warhammer may have 1.5ton less armor - but with more heatsinks and a killing short range weapons - the only chance for the MAD is to keep range (not to mention the terrible armor distribution on the MAD)

Try the 3D or 3M - should go more into the 60% win ratio for the Warhammer - alternative you take some armor points from the arms, CT front/rear and place them on the legs and arms (for a total of 20 points in each section but the CT) - this should also increase the w/l for the MAD

speaking about modifications - a good mech should have enough room to "modify" its chassis without altering it to much. (Refit Kits A and B, maybe C and D).
The Albatross for example is such a great design, like most from the 3055s TRO - with the exception of the Falconer - you can made all builds better, an keeping at the rules of kit A-D - making its more fun

For example -
  • swap St armor for FF (C)
  • swap LBX for RAC 5 (A)
  • swap LRM 15 and SRM 6 for 2 Streak SRM 6 (B)
  • swap Medium Laser for MPLAS (C)
turning from a mediocre mid range build into a real butcher bird (with slightly more armor)

Yea, I did the 3D vs 6R it came out to be 50/50, but when I went to the 3D vs 6D, the Warhammer shot way up again in win rates. Really the Warhammer is such a nasty beast.

From the Inner Sphere side?
The Stalker could be mine along with the UrbanMech.

For the Clans?
First would be the Dire Wolf.
Then the Mad Dog.

I'd have to say the Gargoyle. It's the best mech I've ever purchased in game, and I love to pilot it.

I also like the Blackjack too, particularly the Arrow.

Warhammer and Bushwhacker are also quite good, but they haven't made an appearance yet in MWO :/

mine has always been the NOVACAT,

in those days it always came tied up with the mad dog as my favorite, but these days i prefer awesome over mad dog.

so it would have to be novacat + awesome, all energies pewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewPosted Image

it actually kind of looks like the bad guy on robocop 2 HAHAHAHA :D

https://abortionsfor...1/08/robo21.jpg

the mech i am really missing in this game though, apart from novacat, is bushwacker!
tell me bushwacker is not iconic battletech!

The Scorpion.
Really hoping it makes it into the new Battletech game by Harebrained Schemes.
It's probably the best chance to get it in a video game.
Because i don't see PGI ever adding quads in MWO.

Shadow Cat,
I just love the look and movement profile, in Mechwarrior 3 I used the SHC for a while after swapping Mechs with that first lancemate you find, it was great until I found the Thor and Mad Cat. in Mechcommander 2 most later missions I would field a fast jumping Wolfpack of Shadow Cats and Sha Yu to great effect

my one complaint with the MWO implementation is that MASC does not give the SHC the correct top speed

If we can include all BattleTech mechs not just those seen in Mechwarrior games, its gotta be the Enfield for me (http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Enfield), a great set of weapons on a solid medium weight chassis.

The Timberwolf is my all time favorite (at least since '92, when I first saw it) with the Kodiak as my runner up. I'm also partial to the reseen Marauder IIC. For 3025 tech I go Atlas, especially the Tom Baxa illustration on the 4th edition box.

I like the Sabutai, Sulla ad Ostrogoth too.
