Hey all.

I've been looking on BattleTechWiki and saw this Mech:

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Berserker

Wouldn't the Berserker be cool?
Melee and 86kmp/h with a 100ton Assault Mech?
Ideas?

That is pretty cool, and probably worth the 7 year wait.

I'm not all knowing about MW.
And I didn't know the Berserker was later then MWO is.
/sadface

But I still think it would be awesome.
Slicing off an arm instead of shooting.

Hatchetman...

But you know, "melee" mechs in a mech game without a good melee system probably won't do very well.

Berserkers are all about the "There can be only ONE!" attacks :D

There is actually a pretty realistic chance of seeing a smaller wacker mech like the Hatcheman or Axman

I just met you,
and this is crazy,
Please put in melee
At least someday maybe.

I want to punch you in the cockpit with my atlas!

Yeah, and no one would make a melee system for one melee mech.
Maybe after 7 years if MWO still goes they add it. :D

EDIT... Oh cool, more melee mechs!
You think there's a chance?

Well if they ever implement melee combat in MWO, then there are a few choices during the timeline, namely the 45 ton Hatchetman and the 65 ton Axman. The Hatchetman probably is more famous since Kai Allard-Liao used one to single-handedly wipe out the Clan Jade Falcon cluster Falcon Guards at The Great Gash on Twycross. Also, any 'mech with serious weight is a potentially deadly melee machine, prominent among them being the Highlander, a jump capable 90 ton assault 'mech. It's punches hit nearly as hard as an AC10 and it's kicks nearly as hard as an AC20, combined with it's devastating DFA, this monster is a melee beast.

SWEET! I find melee in a shooter awesome! :D
That's why I noticed the Berserker right away. Almost 90kmp/h with 100tons. <3
Let's hope they add melee!

"Q. Will MechWarrior® Online™ have Mech melee combat?

A. At this point in time we are not looking at melee combat. We may revisit melee combat if we can design something that is fun and does not compromise the overall gameplay experience."

Also why do people assume that the In Game Year translates to 1 actual year of real time? I highly doubt they'll do that, what with all the impatient people wanting all their clans/futuremechs.

Probably because the devs said it would.

Because the ISN news advances real time.
Because the Dev picked a specific start date for the game that would give them (barely) enough time to add clan based technology.
Because an equal or greater number of players are not interested in clans/futuretech.

So you'll be playing this game for 10+ years? I highly doubt it will stay 1y=1y

No where in that sentence does it say that 1 year of ingame time will be 1 year of real time. So you're going off of a very large assumption, of what you think it meant. It says when the story was written and what year it will be in game when it releases.

I honestly think it would be incredibly hard to create an effective melee system in a game of this design. It would be interesting, but it's not gonna happen.
