I run this exactly
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...0eb5c6186903895 I'm still rather new so I havn't had the funds to get the bigger engines yet. I'm enjoying the 64kmh and I don't think this sniping build would work with anything slower. I need it to be able to relocate fast enough or to simply keep up with my team.
My suggestions to you would be:
-Store ammo in the legs and head. People are going to be shooting your torso all the time, which means that eventually you will die to ammo explosions. Getting legged or headshotted, however, is very rare, and in the case of head kills, you almost always die from damage long before the ammo gets hit anyway.
-Lose the AMS. You're a sniper, at long ranges you should have plenty of time to get to cover or break LOS before the missiles hit. The extra ton and a half would probably be more useful as ammo, a heatsink, or armor.
-The BAP is nice, but if you can learn to live without it, I highly recommend doing so. It's great if you have missiles or are scouting, and while I completely understand wanting to pick up targets at longer ranges, a ton and a half is a lot to pay for a bit of radar range. If you can get the extended radar module to replace it, you're saving tons and slots, since BAP's other functions do nothing for you.
If you can afford a standard 250 engine, I suggest giving the first build I linked you a try. You get slightly better cooling and much better survivability. Losing a side torso sucks, but in a punching match, an AC5 and a large laser are more than enough to take down an opponent you've already chewed into. Worst case scenario, you are stuck with a 250 engine, which is a very useful one to have for a lot of other mechs and builds as it is the smallest possible engine that can still fit 10 internal heatsinks, and a lot of builds rely on that.
Oh, and if you can get advanced zoom, it'll probably help your sniping game a lot. :]
