It's all in the amount of time you put into it, just as everything else in life. Just build, try new ideas even if you know it wont work, or you wont like it. Also Google is your friend, just look up things like "Lego Mechs" for ideas, and or help. That's what I do, and I'm not that great at this.

totally disagree dude! LDD is as unique a skill IMO as 3d renders are from 2d line art, etc. I can build some pretty cool stuff with legos if they are in front of me. And I can draw. What I can't do, is conceptualize taking the one form to the other with out having the hands on pieces to touch and change and re-arrange. You guys who do the LDD designs are just as legit as any of the other media we get here, and I love seeing the stuff, even if I can't justify the cost of ordering some of the builds.
Butting in with a brilliant lack of tact!
It doesn't matter how much 'skill' (quote marks are to mark the concept) one has if one never uses it.
I used to have a fair amount of artistic skill (or so many told me) but a lack of actually using it means it has all but disappeared
On the other hand, one with little 'skill' who puts time into something -can- create masterpieces - it would simply take longer than one who had 'skill'
Does that make sense?
