Has Anyone Played Fanmade Battletech Games (Not Made By Company) Like Mechwarrior Living Legends, Mechcommander Omnitech, Etc?

Okay so I just found the free release of Mechwarrior Living Legends by itself without the need of buying Crysis Wars. (http://forum.mechliv...ic,19022.0.html) So I decided to create a thread asking on how many people play fanmade mods still/before.

How many people still play it, are there guides on it, what's this 'Huntress' server and how do I get into it, and is it still in production partly or completely shut down? I rarely find games with people, but I would really like to play a few with others.

How about Mechwarrior Tactics, anyone play that? I personally do but only a few times in a while. Same, I often face AI as the community there never really plays multiplayer (or I can't find anyone.) (https://www.mwtactics.com/landing/) This isn't a fanmade game but I still put it in.

Has anyone heard about Mechcommander 2 Omnitech (I say that it's closest to a new Mechcommander as so many things have changed, including 100s of additional units, structures, etc, much better interface, and closer link to battletech, like buying/selling separate weapons/units, falling and knockdown, etc.) Does anyone play it or used to? (http://www.moddb.com...mander-omnitech)

What about MC2X/Wolfman-x? (http://www.moddb.com...he-rim-colonies) This is Mechcommander 2 but switches out of Battletech in general and goes to other imaginary stuff that Wolfman himself created. I like it as his campaigns are awesome and modding ability is much easier than MCO, but the lack of relation to Battletech is sorta a screw up in my opinion, as Atlas with JJ, dual Clan ER PPC, Clan Gauss, Clan Ultra AC20, Clan SSRM2s, and Clan ER Lasers is just too powerful.

Oh, and how is MW4 Mercs Mekpak 4 looking? Is it for sure doomed? Is it possible to be redeemed after Mektek abandoned it? What's this MW4 Foundation group?

Anyway, I'd like to know the community response on these.

Look, read, and ask around on the MWLL forum for guides and help; many would probably be willing to help. I know there is definitely a guide posted somewhere there. In terms of how many people still play, the servers [Funbocks and Huntress (a Smoke Jaguar/league server; someone correct me if I'm wrong), mostly] are active every day, but you will need to be on the lookout for when they are most active to catch the fun action.
The game's development has ceased completely, unfortunately.

These two mods are very fine choices for singleplayer, and unfortunately there is no multiplayer support, unless you have the original MC2 installed with either Wolfman's or magic's mods. Both are still played, and there are many campaigns for both mods available. Both mods' development is rather slow. There are also forums for both mods: http://www.hard-ligh...php?board=210.0 (MCO forum) and http://z8.invisionfr...orum/index.php? (Wolfman's forum).

It isn't 'doomed for sure', but there are complications in trying to pass development to MW4FG.
You might want read around here: http://www.mektek.net/forums/

Hopefully some of this helps, and welcome to the world of Mech game mods :D.

Huntress is the most active server. I still play Living Legends, there will be soon a planetary league and a Clan Smoke Jaguar unit left MWO to play on MWLL.. So try it!

How do I get onto Huntress though? There's a password for the server, so I'm not sure how you get into it.

@Raven 2C Aren't you one of the modders of some sort (I don't know but I remember you being part of MCO team)? I played through both Wolfman's and Magic's campaigns but I'm wondering if anyone else has. MW4 Mercs Mekpak, I've no idea if they will continue or not, maybe somebody else knows?

To get on Huntress, you'll need to sign up (if memory serves correct), and this would probably be best taken care of on the MWLL forum.

And yes, I'm a relatively new MCO modding team member, but I'm the slowest and very inexperienced. I helped design the Champion 'Mech a couple years ago, if this rings a bell. Still tons of work to do...
I've played through several of Wolfman's campaigns, and I must say they are quite difficult but fun.

Cool, I remember now that you helped with models of different mechs. Nice to meet here in the forums. :P Thanks for the help on MWLL.

Edit: Although a bit buggy at times, MWLL with people online is great, though there isn't much of a playerbase there (at least not all the time). Played a few rounds and it's not bad.

Quite nice to meet someone who's played MCO, as not many BT fans have tried it :D.

MWLL does have a very steep learning curve, so practice makes perfect (speaking of practice, there is a practice server around, and that's a good place to seek help when others are using it).
Regarding the playerbase, it is very small compared to that of MWO. Hopefully that will change soon

I still drop MWLL. Still a better game then this and more friendly to set up battles with other teams.

Yeah, I would really like to play with at least a few good amounts of people. I'm hoping that will change soon, which I think maybe more changed once someone posts MWLL out there with the free source code by itself. (The one that I posted in the first link, thanks for that info!

MWO is a great game in it's own perspective, but MWLL is also a great game. Their much different from each other, like comparing Atlas to Fleas.

They do sometimes events like Puretech. Great fun! There is also a TS server, ask in game :D

Wolfpack is the best. If you use the Heavy Copter "Tom Bang" you can have some REAL fun (10 long toms).

Looks like two people tried that. Hope they didn't take it on a search and destroy mission...
