In an effort to make me want to use my Atlast RS(C) that I bought in the prime of the PPC+Gauss meta that is now a lot less useable with the high heat of PPCs and the firing delay of the Gauss, I've come up with this RS brawler build. I tested it out in a relatively heat neutral map and if I fired everything constantly, the heat is pretty bad even with 17 DHS. But with proper fire control, I believe this build is pretty good. Your thoughts?

I'm sorry, I just think putting LRMs on an Atlas is totally wrong and a waste of 100 tons on the battlefield.

Take both legs down to 65 armor, and throw on one more double heatsink. Viable. Heat's better than most brawling Atlai.

Yup, don't need that much leg armor. Fairly standard brawler atlas.

Im still fond of the 4 LL on the RS. This one isn't bad. AS7-RS©

You can always drop the ballistic and get more heatsinks and a larger engine too.AS7-RS©

Or, if you can't handle the ghost heat, replace a set of LL with PPC's. AS7-RS©

You could also swap any of that stuff for ER variants if you are comfortable with the heat.

If you are going to brawl, you are going to need as much speed, twisting and front armor as possible. You do not need that many DHS in my opinion since 40 DMG either 2 weapon system is terrifying if you can manage it. Its just based off my limited experience in the trial ATL-RS(C) with the slow twisting and turning made it a piece of junk for me.

That's probably about as good as you can do on an RS. It'll run hot in a brawl though. When it gets really close range, don't use lasers, just alternate between AC/20 and SRMs.

With the state of SRMs at the moment, I took them off all my Atlas builds. I would see how you do removing the SRMS and Artemis, and then jump up to a STD 350 engine, and adding a combination of more AC20 Ammo and Heatsinks.

too slow. I don't like LRMs either, but it either needs some Large Lasers or a Gauss. (Or both). Those SRMs are too unreliable.

For what it's worth, I run my RS as a "mid range" brawler. I find it to be more reliable when solo PUGGing.

STD330
4 LLs
AC/20
As many DHS as will fit.

Fire LLs in groups of two (chain fire on hot maps). It doesn't take a lot of LL fire to strip CT/ST armor. Then punch a hole with the AC/20.

I like mine better. Yours has too much rear armor, and is still too slow. Mine has better short range punch, and lets be honest, a single ac5 is a waste of 8 tons.

I run similar usually, though with the Gauss. I find it so be great at balancing heat to firepower. And in a slow cruiser like the Atlas, snap shots with the Gauss aren't as big a deal.

Yeah, I think a Gauss could also be viable as long as you don't go CQB with it.

I've found SRMs to be pretty good recently, and Artemis keeps them grouped really tight. I'll try dropping them and see if that works any better.

Sell it and get a D-DC so you can use ECM with 2LLs, AC20 and some SRMs.

I run a STD345 w/2xLBX10, 4xMLas, 2xSRM4 the alpha effect is very impressive on anything under 100m

TBH I didn't even notice the back armor, I was just working off his template. Just builds I could make up with 5 minutes to spare at work.
