They're making a "winter" CDU with a new video format.

Hold your horses.

Also, just because there isn't a new update for this month doesn't mean the game has stopped being dveloped. A CDU isn't a patch feed, it's a guide to what's going to happen with the game over a period of time. A period of time in which we currently are in.

I think the general theme of the posts over the last month in this thread have been about PGI's return to limited communication. Don't you see PGI's choice of going from a monthly CDU to a quarterly CDU reinforces those concerns. It's not really about impatience ... well some of it is ... it's about PGI's lack of comms.

'We will give you a quarterly CDU in 1080p, isn't that better than a monthly one you have to read' ... No it's not. To my cynical butt it stinks of them trying to avoid missing deadlines laid out in a monthly report.

To be honest.....im getting tired of this way to inform your customers. ^_^

Ive spent some money on this game and i dont say everything has to be perfect or ready, but for christ sake.....tell us what you guys are planning with MWO.

I want to know how far you are with your shedules.
Are there problems that slow you down? When du you guys think you could handly some new implementations?

You got an extremly calm and respectfull community. (in comperisson to other F2P games this is heaven )
Just a little update. Only one time in a month you need to write something. :D

Now you`ve done it.......im crying like a little girl. :D
I want some hugs and love from PGI. :)

If you will notice, they have also dropped the ball on the 'new format' AtDs, so yeah, the current mode of operation certainly seems to be 'let's stop talking to the playerbase again'. The idea that a video is somehow more informative because you can see a Dev being unwilling to tell you anything than reading it, as well as having to go someplace else other than the site that is (supposedly) for the announcement and discussion of all information pertinent to the game, is a symptom of the 'facebook' generation these people grew up in, where it is better to entertain by looking funny than actually be competent.

Let's be frank here. We're dealing with a bunch of people who have no scruples about lying, breaking promises, or discarding their highest values in the face of financial gain. We shouldn't be surprised they decide to go back to the 'no information or communication with the players is good' policies even after they expressed a sincere apology and blamed it for all their mistakes in the past. It is just the kind of people they are.

Bryan Ekman tweeted it.

https://twitter.com/...231316415508480

Also, I do agree that communication is a big thing in MWO.
One week it's "oh PGI won't talk to us why did I give them my money" and the next it's "OH GREAT YES MORE OF THIS!!!".

I just think they could have done even worse by not even using Twitter or any of these other (admittedly lackluster) methods. What information is currently available to the public is not really visible to everyone, they shouldn't rely on Twitter and such to throw out "ideas" of what they may be doing.

But I don't think posting distasteful and honestly equally as bad comments on the forums is helping out either.

There's communities out there that have it much worse but that is as quite often seen in life no reason to not do one better.

Thx for the post...

I always had the notion I know this complaining about information of the player comunity. I just remembered:
It was me sitting in the car of my parents asking "when do we arrive?" ... "and now?" ... "and now?"... "and now?" ... "and now?"... "and now?" ... "and now?"... "and now?" ... "and now?"... "and now?" ... "and now?"... "and now?" ... "and now?"... "and now?" ... "and now?"... "and now?" ... "and now?"... "and now?" ... "and now?"... "and now?" ... "and now?"... "and now?" ... "and now?"... "and now?" ... "and now?"

Having said that, I would of course like to read/hear/see more but at the moment we know pretty much what to expect and have to be patient until it finally arrives.

It's embarrassing to have this on the front page of the website.

This isn't their primary means of communication with the player base, that is apparently Twitter. Also they don't regard the forums as a significant part of the player base as only a small slice ever comes here. So it's not biggie. Plus even when they miss deadlines habitually, they have defenders who will say it's ok and despite previous evidence, PGI will get it done right.

Surprised you've got the patience that you're still following things Bill. I'm ready for a game to play and hope to be back in the saddle soon, just don't really want to even log into this game at present, until we've got at the very least UI 2.0 and private matches...

They got my founders and phoenix buck, hope they put something out that'll bring everyone back!

Honestly, I'm shocked at how supportive everyone has been of this game. $30 for a single mech? I have yet to spend a dime on this game and will not until there is some more evolved gameplay offered. Seeing all the money folks put into this game for no return makes my stomach turn. Show me the content and I will show you my support, financially and otherwise. Might want to lower some mech prices too.

And then we never heard from PGI again.

Many sages and men of repute have speculated on what sort of disaster befell the colony of PGI. Perhaps they simply abandoned their coded-spires and fled into urban wilderness of British Columbia, mixing with the various native tribes known to frequent that area.

Yet every so often an ancient of those heavily wild areas will tell you tales of running into elements of the lost PGI tribe. Spouting wonderous promises of "Community warefare" and a "Mech Warrior game made by fans for fans". Still these accounts are mostly ignored by the educated man. Indeed, the truth is likely far more mundane. They all persished by either unnamed disaese or native predition.

Still - they say if you listen really quietly - you can still hear them in the Command Chair Forum - whispering distinct promises that will all come true Soon.

Maybe Russ led them away leaving us to split into factions and war over this code base for the next couple of centuries. Look for his descendants to return one day yo purge us of this conflict.

Well, here's the update from another mech game to make us all jealous. Top this update PGI, I dare you.

Greetings pilots!

Coming December 3rd, the Wreckage Update introduces Wreckage, a brand new map for players to do battle on. The update is also filled with holiday spirit and the return of Operation: Frostburn! Players will be able to do battle on Winter Last Eco and outfit their mechs with holiday-themed customization options.

Also included in this update are some minor balance tweaks, improvements to Co-Op, and ongoing polish to existing features.

We hope everyone enjoys this update and has a great holiday season!

Special Notices
  • We've made significant improvements that should help with the high ping and lag players are currently seeing. We will continue to monitor the status of this issue and investigate as necessary.
  • Team balance logic was reworked to more accurately balance teams by skill. We will continue to monitor this and implement improvements.
  • Problems affecting social features including friends lists and voice functionality are being investigated. So far, we have determined a very large fix is necessary and are currently unable to address it at this time.
Weapons
  • Corsair-KLA
    • MIRV Projectile damage decreased from 26.25 to 23.125.
Developer's Note: We felt that the Corsair was a bit too strong when used in its MIRV firing mode. It's damage was well over every other secondary in the game and this change brings the MIRV projectile damage down to a more consistent level.
  • SA Hawkins
    • Increased damage per shot from 26 to 29.
Developer's Note: The SA Hawkins is an extremely under-utilized weapon and we want to make it a more attractive choice for players to use. This change especially helps the Brawler, giving it a useful ranged "tank" option for dealing damage to enemies and also gives Sharpshooter players a better sustained damage alternative for those who like to fight a more mid to close range battle.

Abilities
  • Fortified Turret (Brawler)
    • Increased base movement speed from 6 m/s to 8 m/s.
    • Increased boost speed from 13.5 m/s to 15 m/s.
    • Regen rate while taking damage increased from 10 armor per second to 13 armor per second.
    • Regen rate while not taking damage increased from 20 armor per second to 23 armor per second.
Developer's Note: The Brawler has been a long time favorite of players and after Ascension some of the changes did not bode well for him. To start off some reworks, this patch will see the Brawler get an over-all buff to his Fortified Turret ability, increasing his strength when holding positions and chasing down wounded enemies. This is first step in the process of improving the Brawler's effectiveness, and more adjustments are planned for the future.

Game Modes
  • Co-Op
    • The ISM Disruptor and Radar Scrambler now affect AI Bots.
    • Deaths in Co-Op no longer count towards career statistics.
    • For clarification, kills on drones and AI Bots are tracked separately and do not affect your global statistics. Assists are not tracked in Co-Op.
    • Minor improvements made to drone movement.
    • Added an intro cinematic to begin the match.
Maps
  • NEW Map: Wreckage
    • Game Modes Available: Team Deathmatch, Missile Assault, Siege, and Deathmatch.
    • Wreckage exclusive servers will be available for a limited time.
  • Winter Last Eco (Limited Time)
    • Game Modes Available: Team Deathmatch, Missile Assault, Siege, and Deathmatch.
    • Replaces Last Eco in normal map rotation for a limited time.
Customizations
    NEW Chassis Art

    • Light Mech Chassis Art
      • Moke Crab
    • Medium Mech Chassis Art
      • Hiefram Star
    • Heavy Mech Chassis Art
      • Brass Shark
    NEW Repair Drones

    • RD-L4NCET

Ongoing Improvements

  • Maps: Collision, Environment Art, Optimization
  • Art: Textures, VFX, Animations
  • SFX: General Tweaks
Bugs Fixed
  • Magenta trim color has returned to the trim color slider.
  • On the post match results screen, mech XP shown on the Progress tab reverted to the pre-match total after XP finished adding up.
  • The Wave 15 boss in Co-Op would become bugged if a player stood on its spawn location.
  • Fixed a bug where a player's end of match earnings summary would be cut off.
  • Whenever an AI Bot was listed on the scoreboard, players could mute the bot and send it friend invites.
  • Fixed camera shaking in death cam.
  • Fixed some network data issues that were leading to higher than average ping.
  • Item and Ability displays on the cockpit would disappear if player used ALT-TAB while in fullscreen mode.
  • Fixed a bug where a dropped Repair Charge would not repair a mech if player pressed C immediately after deploying Repair Charge.
  • Fixed the issue causing no default key bindings for purchasing upgrades in Co-Op Bot Destruction.
  • Players had the ability to send game invites in VR Training and Offline TDM.
  • The Vanguard's Ability Upgrade 4 (Reduce fuel burn rate by 10% while boosting) was not functioning properly.
  • In Co-Op Bot Destruction, the previous round's EU total would sometimes appear in place of individual player stats.
  • Fixed a number of Service Awards that were not awarding Service Award points or HAWKEN Credits upon completion.
  • If a party member accepted an invite to a match that could not be joined, they would receive an indefinite Connecting screen.
  • If a party member accepted an invite to a completed match while in the middle of a different match, they would receive a Leaving Party screen with no option to cancel.
  • In Co-Op Bot Destruction, teammates and stats were not listed in the Team Composition scoreboard during active gameplay.
  • The T2 paint job was being automatically equipped to some mechs.
  • If a player left an unbalanced match before anyone was switched, the chat log would indicate the leaving player had switched teams.
  • Added more clarity to certain error messages.
  • In Co-Op Bot Destruction, a revive prompt appeared for players who had not yet selected a mech in the staging area.
  • If a weapon was unlocked in the mech rank window, that weapon would be shown as equipped even if it wasn't.
  • The "Volunteer to Switch Teams" prompt was not appearing when any menu window was being viewed.

You know when they said they were moving to a monthly video format what I think they meant was "Give us a few months so we can piece together enough footage of us looking like we're actually being actually productive in our offices"

Judging from the U.I. 2.0 preview, I'd say we'll have enough footage for a 5 minute video in March.

I didn't buy a founder's package to buy into the development of the company or to support the devs. If my purchase supported the devs then that is a side benefit, but the reason I bought a Founder's Package was because they were offering something I wanted to purchase: Founder's 'Mechs, MC, Premium Time, and name in the credits, oh and the forum tag I guess is nice too. And what do you know! That's exactly what I got!

But that's it. No emotional "here, let me help you make the game I want!" or "I'm investing in you because I BELIEVE!!!". Just make something I want and I will buy it. This isn't about the hopes and dreams for a mystical future game that only exists in my head (which only I can make, and likely only I would enjoy). I'm here now because I want MechWarrior and this is where MechWarrior is for me.

They made something I wanted and I bought it. It's that simple. If they make more stuff I want, I will buy that too. We're not Angel Investors or Stock Holders with a stake in the company or a say in its direction, we're customers. Consumers.

You are right and as my sales team at work is fond of saying, "Customers have choices". I have made one not to spend another dime until I see a major milestone advance, the money I spent I feel I got value out of however I am to the point where that is done and I am spending elsewhere. Bottom line if they don't deliver a product there company won't survive. In my opinion they are at a crucible and they have to put up or shut up as many folks are now beginning to close thier wallets.

They chose the timeline to go open beta, they chose the timeline to announce a release date without any content to garner attention and or generate excitement and show a progression of development, and honestly a shooter without any means to immerse people behind a goal is not going to allow them to retain a player base that allows them to continue to generate funds.

This is not on the players, development is on them, they want to change the design pillars fine I dont care make the game as you see fit...but make the damn game. To have content bottled up behind a design element of the game after you have launched is well just bad decision making and this customer has made a choice to spend money elsewhere until there is something more than the stale same old thing.

Happy Holidays
