First mechwarrior I ever played was ... mechwarrior for snes. I had no idea what I was doing. Mechwarrior 3050 came out later and that was sorta fun but mechwarrior 2 on pc and playstation was my real introduction. Then Mechcommander came out and I realized 'wait.. these are all from the same universe! ***! the summoner is the thor??' Mechcommander and mechwarrior 3 came out really close together and ... I became a huge junkie. So amazing.

Mechwarrior 4 was fun and nice but imho, 3 is the very best.

The Cresent Hawks Inception. I still have the map that came in the box. I have owned and read every book, played every incarnation of the game including the Mech Assault nonsense. Introduced my son to the magic of Mechwarrior. I even payed through the nose to use the mech sim pods in downtown Seattle back in the day. Table top, board game you name it, I have tried it.

Can not wait for this newest iteration to hit the interweb!

My first exposure to the universe in general was the Battletech pods at a Virtual World place in San Fransisco in, I think like 1993, 1994? Pretty rad but $7 for like 15 minutes was pretty rough on a twelve year old's budget.

My first was the original Mechwarrior back in 1989 which honestly is still my favorite. The dynamic missions with bounty's, ability to go to the different planets, recruit pilots, and how mech repairs / purchases were handled is something that has never been done since. MechCommander was close with the pilots.

To get allot of money in Crescent Hawks Inception.. place something on your walk forward key and run in to a building. This will keep the market alive. Go see a movie.

Even "met" Michael Stackpole when he played in the GEnie network. Went by the rank Loremaster due to devouring every bit of info. It's been a long time, and I have forgotten more than I retained, but I remember how fun it was! The Battletech IP , story and lore is perfect for a persistant, online video game.

I am soo glad that someone else remembers GEnie. I played until they jacked the prices up to a few hundred dollars hehe.

I've played every iteration of Mechwarrior since the original a long looong time ago (The Crescent Hawks Inception, since I think it technically came down the pipe before Mechwarrior). Well, I didn't get a chance to really play a lot of Solaris, maybe a few matches before my comp at the time broke down.

Been a long time table top player as well, I think I first got really into that around '88 or '89.

The only Battletech-franchised computer game I've played was at the short-lived Virtual World in Dallas.

I've played pretty much every iteration starting from Crescent Hawks. But I played hundreds of games of BT at Virtual World, which is still the pinnacle for me - i'm hoping this captures some of that magic.

Played the second MW on my new Pentium 100. Was thoroughly underwhelmed by the lackluster pace and the so-so MP. Played MW3, same thing. Pretty much gave up on the simulator thing for years and years. Then came Mech Assault. Now there is a real game. I will definitely play this new game as I can tell that PGI has a better grip on what gamers want these days. If I see a simple rehash of the mediocre games that were released years ago, I am out.

Seeing as this is going to be PC only, you're probably getting something quite more like MW2 and MW3, NOT Mechassault. You're going to get complicated controls, spend most of your time inside a cockpit, and probably going to be picked off by better players who are using the more advanced controls schemes once people start getting into the game.

Just sayin', if you're looking for more of a game like Mech Assault, you'll probably be incredibly disappointed.

Started with the Board Game. Then got Crecent Hawks Inception, Mechwarrior, Crecent Hawks Revenge, Battledrome (non BT but similar), Earthsiege series (same as Battledrome), Mechwarrior 2, Mechwarrior Merc, Mechwarrior 4 and Mechwarrior Commander.

I actually still have all the boxes

MechWarrior 3 was the first for me back in 2002. Back then I was watching G4 and the show Arena and they had MechWarrior 4 Black Knight they played a round of. But back in the 90's I played BattleTech for Sega Genesis.

Started with MW2. Quickly picked up the Merc expansion and started going through the Clan War series of novels. The wire-frame enhanced imaging mode blew me away.

Aidan Pryde ftw.

hmm, Like helmer, Im a bit on the *older side*

First started when i Picked up a Pheonix Hawk at my local hobby shop.
From there it started. When a mate of mine got Crescent Hawks Inception on his Atari ST, i was forever round there asking to play it.
After that it was a break until I got Mechcommander on a P150, but the fun began when I got a PIII 800mhz, and put MW2 Mercs on it.
Not long after that it was MPBT3025.

Heh needless to say I've had (and still got) every pc game released, except the MW3 Pirates Moon expansion.....I could never find a copy, and now no longer have a machine capable of running it right even if I did (due to lack of support for older stuff in modern drivers etc)

Still, I'm looking forward to this. A lot.

4v4 was fun in the day, but hoping for something like 16 v16 at a minimum.

I'm another Crescent Hawk veteren. But I got the infocom three pack after it'd been on the shelves awhile (rocking a 386 no less).

The maze sucked, the star map was awesome, and every planet should have a star league cache on it somewhere!

Years after beating the game, I heard about the Phoenix Hawk LAM miniature you could get "back in the day"... oh man I was jealous!

But the Crescent Hawk's Revenge, that was where my hours upon hours of replay time was logged, started 1. a love of all things BTech, and 2. a severe RTS addiction. (The MechCommander games were a salve to a lonely soul).
