There are several things I would like to see eventually make their way into the Game and community warfare, one of the main ones would be a Coliseum or arena similar to Solaris from MW4.
I would like to see a Lobby where you can join to enter into a 1vs.1 combat arena, as well as a lobby for premade 2vs.2, 3vs.3, and 4vs.4 combats. To expand on this just a bit; I would like to see a system where you could enter into the “Arena” in a non fee mode or a fee mode. In the non fee mode you enter the que and test yourselves against others; in fee mode you enter by paying a CB entrance fee and if you win you receive prize money. A gladiator’s purse so to speak. There could be a few different levels of entry fees, For example the amounts could be set for 1000, 10,000, and 100,000. For premade teams, each member puts up an entrance fee and the winning team each receives a portion of the prize money. I think it should be divided into weight classes for the individual fights and broken down into total tonnage classes for team matches. An example would be like weight classes where the combined tonnage of a team would fall between 60 to 99 tons for one division, 100 to 150 tons for another, and 151 to 225 tons, etc. the break down is not important for now but I think you the reader can get the idea. I think this would breathe some new interest into the community on several levels. I can see this being used as training grounds in houses and merc corps for newer pilots, a place to actually text builds against real opponents, rather than static mechs, and a place for inner house/unit competitions, as well as just plain old bragging rights. Having a system where you can risk C-Bills in a chance to gain them also allows for a means to earn money to buy a new mech, load outs, equipment, and more importantly in the coming future, a means to earn those 19Mil C-Bills for your certificates to create Merc units. I think it would be simple enough to have leader boards showing top performers in the various divisions as well, giving another source to Houses when considering different units to award contracts to during community, as well a place for Lone wolves to stand out and make a name for themselves.
I am interested to see what the community thinks about this, and if it is something others would like to see as well. I will be following this thread to see, and who knows; if there is enough positive feedback, maybe PGI could implement something along these lines in the future. I cannot claim to be a programmer by any means but from my limited knowledge, I do not think this would be a difficult thing to do.

I think that the introduction of solaris style free-for-alls would be enjoyable, but adding team arena matches weight divisions, and stakes might be difficult to manage short term. I'd be happy with free for all matches in the beginning, and rolling into the more complicated options as the dev's have time.

Have the devs said anything about solaris? I admit, I've been remiss in keeping up with upcoming features.

Bryan Ekman mentioned in one of the recent NGNG podcasts that they were planning to add Solaris at some point.

Some of details you described could be very difficult to implement, if to make them at all viable, that is. Such as, the idea of rewarding large sums of c-bills for winning (rather than for participating). Should PGI do that, then PGI would also need to _ensure_ that cheating is pretty much impossible. And this is including literally thousands ways of "hacking" the game with 3rd-party programs in some or other ways as well as yet OTHER means of cheating. Even in WoW - one huge MMO game which indeed does reward _winning_ in PvP - this remains a massive problem despite many YEARS of efforts of some best specialists in the industry to stop cheating, - as evident from ongoing massive bans of PvP cheaters (see http://www.reddit.co...ers_get_banned/ if you want a relatively recent example of that).

What i wholeheatedly support, though, is introducing, - in some or other form, - other than 12x12 game sizes, as i mentioned in this post. So at least for that much, i am supporting your here idea for sure. At least i'd very much like being able to do 1x1 and 4x4, but 2x2 and 3x3 is nice too. Let's keep mentioniing it, guys, and hopefully it wil lbe done before the end of time! :(

The latest Command Post mentions a 'skirmish' or deathmatch mode, lets hope that has some relation to this.

It would be handy to settle disputes. Every once in a while 2 players rub each other the wrong way.. what a fun way to settle it! If there was a spectator mode where you could watch from an "up in the stands" perspective, or from either players cockpit... that would be awesome. Gotta make sure your chat messages are only visible to other spectators. I like the "fighting for a prize" idea too.

With the implementation of bounties it sounds like it wouldn't be a far stretch to add in betting on matches and such either for solaris competitions

I agree that cheating could become an issue but lets face it some people will cheat if there is any reward or not in games. I would not want the "rewards" to be so large that people would forego regular matches but for some form of prize money, for example if you enter a "Prize" match where the entry fee is say 10,000 C-Bills, then if you win you get your enrty fee back and say 50% of the other contestants entry fee. so you would actually win 5,000 c-bills, this would allow for some form of gain to help supplement C-Bill gains from regular matches. More importantly though; at least for me, would be a means for lonewolves or others to be able to make a name for themselves in the community and actually have a place to test their skills in an enviroment that is far less dependant on the preformance of others. I do like the idea Fierostetz had of a "spectator" mode
as well.

heck don't even make it monetary. have official tournaments where the winners get custom paints and forum badges and such. Things like this should be purely for fun and bragging rights
