They have until December to improve things and add content, after that I know of many- many people that are going to consider MWO at best a secondary choice as it relates to their gaming habits...
A product MUST cater to the needs and wants of the consumer, and never the other way around..
Anyone that believes the opposite is naive at best.
The clock has been ticking for a while now.
On the contrary: Spoken like a true naive consumer. This "customer is always right" approach is pretty outdated by the way. Its reminiscent of the what, 80's and 90's business model? Its also actually quite naive to believe in such a black or white statements like the one you just posted too. Its also quite naive to issue edicts that essentially boil down to: "We're leaving if we don't receive our finished product gift wrapped by X date" If one has ever worked a day in hospitality or customer service they'll know that that statement is not entirely true.
Re: "Many many players will walk " Unless you have polled the entire MWO player base, your threat of walkout/away/uninstall is pretty hollow. As we've seen MWO has grown and made steady progress and there is an influx of new mechwarriors every day. At most if you got all your Many many friends to leave MWO, PGI would likely receive a 5-10% increased drop in player retention. Which is at best a noticeable dip for maybe a week?.
Estimating on how quickly the sales unlocks for ProPho (ie. Flame camo etc) were unlocked for the purchasers; you're statement that "the excitement over the release of MWO is wearing thin" is also unfounded. Even then an independent player poll conducted by someone else on the forum showed a 10-15% refund rate. Which is acceptable and still profitable. No sane business venture believes it can make 100% of its customer base happy, demanding anything by X date is frankly silly. We tend to just smile and nod at those customers. So if you're part of that group you're in the minority and frankly even more naive than the business you've tried to critique.
Not sure if you have put any thought into that statement or too into consideration economics or start-up business models. But the "reality"is this isn't a product that is complete /finished product like a Big Mac or piece of cloth, or a power tool. Its a product under constant development. As long as it continues to develop and show progress it will be profitable. You knew that from the beginning.
You're more than welcome to leave, or clock watch as you please. What you're really do is what people do in grade school, at the cash register and in restaurants its called flouncing.
I'll leave you with this: http://theoatmeal.co...tipping_tooting

You are off on your assumptions, and expecting a purchased product to perform is not outdated.
A product must cater to the wants and needs of the consumer, and NOT the other way around....
Anyone that believes the opposite IS naive...
#1. I never said I was going to walk, I said I knew a lot of people have given December as a date when they will spend less and less time on MWO, and consider it an afterthought as it relates to their gaming habits.. I also sadi they may or mat not comeback to MWO as their main focus.
#2. If you think that the consumer needs to cater to the needs of the producer of a product, then you are a pawn.
#3. An unfinished product brought to market is still just an unfinished product that has been brought to market.
#4. I never said the customer is ALWAYS right (back it up chief)..
#5. To accept mediocrity at any level isn't good, to wait for (what could be considered) an unreasonable amount of time for a product to meet it's stated objectives is not the best recipe to keep a consumer to remain interested in a product.
#6. Participation Trophies are for the weak.
The reality of a situation is still a reality of a situation... No amount of denial will make that truth any less true.
Not sure if you have put any thought into your post...
I guess we will see huh.

I don't know much about Battletech lore but with the Omnimechs using a pod system wouldn't there be no reason to have variants like with normal mechs? Just like a set number of hard points we can fill with whatever we like?

Right, a product that is: MMO Battletech/Mechwarrior themed game. Status: Under development. Target Market: Online players who want to get involved in Online worlds that are under continuous development.
YUP. Meeting that want exactly.

Do you work as a statistician or do you work for Ipsos-Reid?
"#2. If you think that the consumer needs to cater to the needs of the producer of a product, then you are a pawn."
Assumption.
"#3. An unfinished product brought to market is still just an unfinished product that has been brought to market."
Observant. Good to see that you realize and admit this.
#4. I never said the customer is ALWAYS right (back it up chief)..
Here comes your requested backup. I quote: "A product MUST cater to the needs and wants of the consumer, and never the other way around.." Translation: Customers is RIGHT in his/her needs. It should NEVER be the other way. Therefore...
"Never" is defined as:
nev·er [nev-er]1. Antonym of ALWAYS
- not ever; at no time: Such an idea never occurred to me.
- not at all; absolutely not: never mind; This always
"5. To accept mediocrity at any level isn't good, to wait
for (what could be considered) an unreasonable amount of time for a product to meet it's stated objectives is not the best recipe to keep a consumer to remain interested in a product."
Here is the definition of "unreasonable"
un·rea·son·a·ble
[uhn-ree-zuh-nuh-buh

l, -reez-nuh-] - not reasonable or rational; acting at variance with or contrary to judgment;irrational: an unreasonable person.
- not in accordance with practical realities, as attitude or behavior; inappropriate: His Bohemianism was an unreasonable way oflife for one so rich.
- excessive, immoderate, or exorbitant; unconscionable: an unreasonable price; unreasonable demands.
- not having the faculty of reason.
As far as we have all seen they've done a great job posted projections on development, given regular updates and for the most part delivered or showed progress. There by giving reasons to its consumers. Are you sure there are hard and fixed release dates on this game? Perhaps its not the best recipe, but PGI sure has a more than adequate if not decent recipe!
As for mediocrity; please do recommend to us another pure direct installment in the mechwarrior/battletech themed series, simulation/MMO game currently under development that's better?
"Not sure if you have put any thought into your post..."
Why yes, I did put a bit of thought. Hence the references and quotes. Thanks for noticing.

It's been many years since any kind decent MechWarrior title, but that is not the fault of the consumer/player base.
That is a non issue, even though I do give PGI props for making MWO in the first place...
Common sense 101:
You CANNOT blame a consumer/player base for the speed or quality of the development of a title, ALL responsibiltiy, and accountability rests squarely on the shoulders of those that are developing said product.
If a product doesn't not meet the expectations in some fashion of it's consumer base, then I think you know what happens.
Also I said "(what could be considered) an unreasonable amount of time".. Yep
Perception is key, and no matter how good a product may or may not be, the perception of said product by it's consumer base will dictate it's success or lack of.

Yes they have made progress, but riddle me this... What happened to the 3050 Timeline they touted for so long..??
Oh wait, they dumped as soon as DEVELOPMENT couldn't keep pace...
Remember this thread is about CLAN ISSUES as they relate to WHEN...
I never said they haven't been making progress.
Hmmmmm... Operation Revival WAVES (1-4)... Below is an old post from much earlier (weeks and months)
.................................................................................................................................................................................
The Clan has already invaded, Operation Revival WAVE(S) 1-4 have already happened (4) is still in effect..
http://www.sarna.net...i/Clan_Invasion
.
Then the DEVs dumped their 3050 Timeline they touted for so long when development couldn't keep pace, and it's fluff, now I believe they now want to roll it back (3050 timeline) a year and delay it even further (if i'm correct about the roll back).
.
But the reality is that they missed Operation Revival WAVE(S) 1-4 completely, they have come and or gone without notice or mention, they abandoned their Timeline completely for the time being.. I know of a lot of people that are unhappy about just that issue alone. I have heard December as being the longest some people are willing to wait for CW and Clans, after that MWO will be an after thought for them..
...............................................................................................................................................................
On WHO'S table does the burden of accountability rest..?? The player base are not the DEVs.
You cannot blame the player base for any perception created by issues beyond their control.
QUESTION: In your opinion what would a reasonable amount of time to wait for CW and Clan Tech Content..
(remember the abondoned timeline is this reply please)
In Spring 2014 or a year from now seems a little excessive to many people I talk to, and in these forums.
