But if they do, how will the premades grind their robots? They'll be making negative money, or forced to play without green arrows.

Finally thrown out of Kong, and now you're the bestest and coolest Lone Wolf around, huh? Strange how I don't see you in my Elo bracket...
It's that easy, ask before shuffling people around, or do as you are asked if someone complains, or relinquish command so the premades can sort it out themselves. If you don't do this, you won't need to wonder why the premades will do everything they can to take command, including teamkill. If you want to grief people, don't ask why they punish you for it!

I think a better solution would be if people stopped screwing around with others gaming experience by shuffling around teams.

Click Launch, Click Ready, Play. That's all you need to do.

a big +1

Of course, there are also people who teamkill for other reasons, and teamkills are relatively comun in MW:O.
...

I am playing the game since this september, did 733 drops so far. Number of times i was team-killed: ZERO. "Relatively common"? Perhaps, for some people, this is the case; but clearly not for all - at least, not for me.

Also, while i dislike the idea in the 1st place, - temporary ban is WAY too harsh for this sort of "crime", among other reasons, - it is also important to note that 1 minute is too much a frame of time. An innocent light mech pilot can suffer - even if rarely, - because on some maps it takes way less than one minute for a lance of light mechs to engage enemy light mechs, and if the fight is intense and SRMs are involved, it's quite easy to drop a wounded teammate with an unlucky SRM volley. And imho, the main thing with any punishments - is to ensure as much as possible that no innocent people could be affected.

I conclude that PGI is doing an outstanding job at Mechwarrior onine; but...

I think that we were doing a pretty good job at policing team kills ourselves. How many times did you see whole teams gang up on team killers? I saw that at least on five occasions.

Team killing is a rare occurrence. When someone team kills by accident, he too is penalised. I don't see a blanket rule as useful, in fact, I see a blanket rule as communistic. Although well intentioned, it won't work.

I know myself, I've dropped a wounded team mate. I felt terrible, that was penalty enough. Don't take the criticism too hard PGI, love the game and all the hard work you've put in; But you may want to have a second look at this new rule, its PC.

I have only TKed once and that was because the hail storm of Missiles I let lose rained down and killing not only an Atlas DC but also a friendly who was too close when the missile hit.

I already get hit for Team Damage which isn't my fault.
It's gotten so bad I held my fire more times than I care to count because I don't want to kill or damage a friendly even if it was out of my control.

I have also once almost cored a Commando when it ran right in front of me to steal a kill and got five Mediums into the backside.

so there are so many things that can go wrong with this in some way or another.

Now I understand people getting annoyed with those that shoot their weapons for some stupid reason or another at the start of the fight causing damage.

Easy solution: when a group player is moved around, the whole group moves.

Actually, I don't think that isolated cases of TK should be banned.
In fact, I'd give certain daily limit on TKing with a week-long ban and "Forgiveness" system from America's Army (Don't forgive so the guy get punished or do forgive and get some extra points to the score).
