So with Project Phoenix about to drop I thought I would open a new thread looking at potential Battlemaster builds. Obviously, we don't know about things like would an XL work well or not yet, but just theorycrafting. Lets see what people are thinking.

My first attempt:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...660317b160bf0a8

It runs too hot, but packs a huge punch. (I went standard engine due to the fact that side torsos look rather large)

This is the build I am going to be trying out. I think it will be fun:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e3b9b2e4a6fc2ac

You can Swap out the PPC for a Large Pulse Laser if you want to have more firepower in a brawl.

I have to say, I am almost glad they added the PPC ghost heat nerf, otherwise we would be running into these:

You thought the 6 PPC Stalker was bad? Well say hello to the 7 PPC Battlemaster!

You can typically get away with loadouts that are hot or slow, but never both. I'd ditch one or two of the large lasers to upgrade your engine and add a heatsink or two.

I'm looking at running something like this, possibly on the 1D chassis: Battlemaster No-SRM Brawler. I've been playing with a faster XL version to try out, but I haven't found one I really like yet... Maybe something like this? Battlemaster XL Brawler

I also feel like you could make a peakaboo sniper with those high shoulder energy mounts.

Can't say that I did. It was dangerous to get hit by... once. And then it died while cooling down.

I used to run a lot of mediums (Hunchbacks and Centurions) and there were multiple times I was one shot by a 6 PPC Stalker. Not fun.

This build could be fun. Basically it is a base Battlemaster, but the Engine has been downgraded to a STD 300 and the machine guns have been upgraded to AC2's. I wouldn't run it, but it could be fun...

Also, this is a modified version of my earlier build. Swapped out the machine gun and the machine gun ammo for BAP (only thing that weighs 1 and 1/2 tons and fits in two crit slots.

I'm going for a brawler build with mine. ML's and the SRM to melt off some armor and the LBX to cut into internals.

Big Brawl

This will be the first assault that I will be running, other than to test a trial, so I am really excited to go.

I kind of like this build:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...976a0715142b168

Two arm shields, STD engine, even losing one side doesn't take you out of the fight. Runs hot if you alpha, but if you go chain fire...

Fairly nasty.

Someone is bound to try it. Hell, I might even try it just to see if one alpha actually kills me instead of the enemy.

It won't. But I wouldn't power up. It's gonna take a LONG time to recover safely. When's the last time you tried to alpha strike a 6 ER PPC stalker?

Give it a shot. Just... do it far from the enemy. And do NOT power back up by force. That's when you die.

I like the look of that build a lot. Might have to steal it come Tuesday.

You mean:
6PPCs
1 Gauss

BLR-1G

They don't know about my 75 damage alpha.

My rig has more armor and no ammunition dependency. It needs to be able to take the abuse after the 7 ER PPC alpha strike. It's almost 45 seconds of being powered off.

You're both doing it wrong

I like your build sir, but I think it could use a little more armor. There is nothing worse than overheating for 50 seconds and being nearly totally naked.

I'm not sure using tonnage on one srm6 with respect to artemis is efficient. I'd use that for more ammo or heat sinks...etc..

for me I think I want to try an 400XL and just squeeze as much weaponry that I can.

BLR-1G (1xGauss, 1xERLL, 6xML, 1xSRM6)

Seems optimal, to me, at least, and logistically sound, considering a majority of the mechs I operate can carry up to a 360 XL engine.
