Attaching a poll to this, because people believe that the Clan/IS ratio, if/when we get the Clans, will be grossly out of whack.

So let's see...if you could only pick one, or had to pick one at start...what would you pick? You can add why, if you'd like.

For me, Inner Sphere, always.

I'm sure within the current community that clan will win out, but with the way the developers have set up the timeline progression I believe we will see a mostly even split with a slight advantage towards the inner sphere. This is of course at least partially dependent on whether or not there will be something one has to give up in order to join the clans about 8 months after launch.

1st Clanner woot!

EDIT: Can't really comment on the game until it comes out, but unless there is a serious negative aspect to joining the clans I'll be joining one touman or another. I like the warrior tradition and their lore. All the ritual and what not sits well with me.

I could care less about who has better tech or whatever because playing as a clanner is a more enjoyable gaming experience for me.

2nd clanner lol.

I like the Clan 'fluff' i like thier honour system, I like their 'mechs and their reason for being.

I also like the IS but if I have a chance to play a game for enjoyment I am going to pick the thing I ENJOY the most.

Semyon.

Clanner regardless.
I really wouldn't care if the TimberWolf had to be watered-down to a spheroid standard.

I would chose IS, personally, because of their devotion to family, the unit pride and the fact that they're just fighting to keep what's theirs (even though technically the Clans don't take it away).
I like that the Clans exist, I like that Alexsandr Kerensky figured back into the universe after he left, and I even like the rationale behind the Wardens. I feel like the Crusaders, though, are the stereotypical bad guys that the universe needed at the time the invasion. Just my opinion though (one of the reasons I love BT is the depth of the fiction, as you can find a specific faction that fits your own personal playstyle, leanings, etc.)!

Inner Sphere. I'm a merc player, always have been. Clans have some nice toys and they have a decent back story and system too them, but lets face it they are a little nuts. Despite the technology and the 'superior warrior' aspect of the clans, they are supposed to be grossly outnumbered. Then there is the whole bidding thing too, two factions want to invade on area and fight, lets see whose willing to go in there with the least amount of ammo, equipment, numbers and back-up.

I'd love to see player clanners just to see them bicker between themselves as they bid themselves into a corner. Then we'll see just how good the clan players truly are.

IS here. I can go House and Merc. But I like the idea of shooting down Clansers that think they are the best due to tech. Eventhought its very hard to do ;D

Inner Sphere. Clans maybe have big guns, but there's more of us, we are the good ones and we have nicer mechs. :)

I am a Jade Falcon player to the heart. I am considering joining the Lyrans just so I can fight my preferred Clan. To be there on Twycross when the Falcon Guards are burried, to maybe be the one to guard a young prince on his first assignment from a deadly new threat, to try to stop the swath of destruction the Clans reave torwards Terra. To say "I was there..." "I was on planet, I was part of that."

Even with the camaraderie and experience of fighting as a Steiner for a year or more, I will want to jump ship the second they declare Clan sign-ups open. I want to experience the Invasion from the Jade Falcon point of view. To watch my forces sweep aside 200 year old clunkers, to get outnumbered and taken advantage due to our strict rules of war and yet, still make it out of the fight alive, honorable and victorious. I want to be there in the end, on Tukayyid, standing as a mechwarrior of the reformed Falcon Guards as we hold our last line against the massive onslaught of Comguards. To stand next to Aidan Pryde and probably fall with him would be the greatest realization this game can offer me as a long time fan whose first books were the Jade Phoenix Trilogy.

I will look forward to fighting along side you and against you when the time comes.
I'll show you just what a 200 year old clunker can do :)

Inner Sphere for me thanks. I don't mind the clans, but they just don't have the special place in my heart the IS does. Hopefully this poll will help quell the cries of "ohz noz everyone will play clan". :)

As for me.

I'm a freeborn, stravag, honorless Merc. Or so the clanners tell me.

I'm far from honorless, but the first two titles I openly embrace with a smile.

I just hope the last throught than runs through that clanner's head as my gauss slug punches through their canopy is "A freeborn ended me."

I'm an Inner Sphere Mercenary. Gray Death Legion and proud of it. My 'mech doesn't have omni slots. It doesn't use extended range anything, my LRM launchers are heavy, and "Streak" SRM's? Nah, I'll stick with the standard launchers, thanks.

It's not the 'mech, or weaponry, birth, or cultivation in a test tube.

Talent, tactics, and raw tenacity will win the day.

That said, I'll see you all dirtside.

I am born of the Iron Womb, but it did not raise me.

Where my sibko went to the stars, I fell from them like a meteor.

The Naval Caste is one of contemplation and cunning. We are not duller than our Aerospace kin, we are more patient. And when we put our minds to it, we are as fine a warrior as any elemental.

I prefer the cockpit of my Kit Fox to the sterile bridge of a Dropship. Here, I am at the end of the rope, fathoming the depths of battle. I see with my eyes what my sibko only sees through the lens of reconnaissance drones. And here my contemplation and cunning wins dividends of blood and honor.

I am Clan Snow Raven.

I want Salvage, and lots of it, and legs, I like legs, and calling down fire from 4 mechs on a single target, and stomping on the ejecction pod.

I'm Merc, Making money is the game, and if I can salvage some upgrades in the process then so be it.
