Inner Sphere is winning! 11/12/11

I know this poll doesn't represent the majority of people who'll be picking up MWO once it hits and more buzz for it's generated, but here's hoping it shows the trend of how it'll go in game.

For House Davion!

I suppose Periphery qualifies more as Inner Sphere than Clan. :)

Although i did start as a clanner with Mechwarrior 2, i grew to appreciate the depth and complexity of the Innersphere, the impression of having to accomplish more with less, with no limitation from the rules of the engagement but with only the resources i manage to raise myself (MW2 Mercenaries, MW3, MW4 Mercenaries and then, finally the most demanding, MW1).

I wonder how many people would still play clans if they didn't have better equipment?

I think if they were to stick to the cannon, there SHOULD be MANY more IS players than Clan... Not to say that they need to force players into one side or the other--although some kind of "limited invite" for the Clans could work (perhaps one invitation is good for 1 user and 3 friends or something, and they'd be handed out to keep it at a 1:3 ratio of clan:IS) I think what ought to happen is simply in Clan vs IS matches, the Clan side will have less players.

So, a Clan vs IS fight may have 12 IS players but only 8 Clan. Keep in mind, the reason for this is that the Clan's stock mechs should FAR AND ABOVE outclass the IS players stock mechs. Supposedly, the Clan's tech puts whatever class they are using between one and two classes above the same class of IS mech... so a medium clan mech should be able to take on a heavy IS mech in pure armour and firepower, yet still be faster and have better sensor and scouting tech etc. There are a lot of references to the Timber Wolf being able to chew through an Atlas and continue fighting.

I think it'd be a lot of fun and truly showcase the dynamic between the two "factions". Of course, they'd have to balance the way XP or "making money" worked, but it would be a lot of fun going into a game with that struggling "some of us aren't going to make it out of this one alive" type of mentality when fighting the Clans. Of course, perhaps the Clan players get nothing in terms of salvage and need to "level up" in ranks to open up what's available, where as a surviving IS team gets to reap the rewards of stolen clan tech and other scraps.

That's just my 2 cents... probably won't be done like this but a guy can dream...

I want to experience the Invasion from the Jade Falcon point of view. To watch my forces sweep aside 200 year old clunkers, to get outnumbered and taken advantage due to our strict rules of war and yet, still make it out of the fight alive, honorable and victorious. I want to be there in the end, on Tukayyid, standing as a mechwarrior of the reformed Falcon Guards as we hold our last line against the massive onslaught of Comguards. To stand next to Aidan Pryde and probably fall with him would be the greatest realization this game can offer me as a long time fan whose first books were the Jade Phoenix Trilogy. - Amechwarrior

Seyla!

Nicely said for a Falcon. ;)

The very same I’d wish alongside my Clan and ending on Tukayyid to fix things up!
And for us to see those stravags in the Combine on their knees while we feast on Luthien!
And I bet that in MWO nothing will stop us from taking Terra.

I'm not pointing at anyone here in particular, but I'm willing to bet nine out of ten people who would pick clans don't:
A ) Understand zellbrigen.
B ) Practice zellbrigen.
C ) Understand they cannot use contractions in speech.

Unless we have a lot of Clanner Janitors all of a sudden ;)

I was thinking along very similar lines.

OT - Inner Sphere all the way. Clanners are all well and good, but the Warrior caste is so self-centered, egotistical, and narcissistic I can't stand 'em. Couple on the fact they're little more than slavers at heart (what else would you call bondsmen?) and I'll give 'em a miss.

Seyla Garth,

Though I must contradict your last statement. Trueborn Clansmen and women do not use contractions, yet I am given to understand that Freeborn Clan Warriors use them consistently.

I play IS, but to be fair to the clanners, I'd bet 9 out of 10 IS pilots don't realize that the by and far most popular clan (Wolf), also ignored zellbrigen the most. Nor that the clans as a whole ignored zellbrigen in regards to mercenaries, pirates, etc, and all non-mech assets which canonically were a large portion of the IS order of battle.

IS player here.

I was introduced to BT/MW long before the Clans were introduced, and I never really warmed up to them once they were...

The problem with IS vs Clan Zell is that IS break Zell about 20 seconds into engagement, and then all Zell breaks loose.

For me, I find the nature of Clans awesome, an experiment in chilvary and genetics gone awry. Was supposed to be the Round Table but ended up Lord of the Flies instead.

However, if the MWO becomes overwhelmingly Clan, my "underdog" nature will take over.

In fact, I'd like to join the smallest faction right now... are there stats on factions somewhere?

I'd choose IS for sure. Besides the fact that i love contractions in my language and i like my family, I'd love to trap a cocky clanner in a well coordinated ambush and tear him a new one. Then i'd steal his tech. ;)

IS! The very things that led me to cast my lot with the FWL are the antihesis of eveything the clans stand for.

Always been dedicated to the Inner Sphere, and the Federated Suns in particular. There is a whole lot more to the Inner Sphere in terms of fluff and development, at least during the Invasion. The Clans get fleshed out more later, but then it all comes apart anyway with the Wars of Reaving and the integration of several surviving Clans into the Inner Sphere.

I have personally never had a problem with the Clans. This is probably because I got involved in Battletech after the Clans had already been introduced. Regardless, depending on how accounts are run in MW:O I might play a Clan Warrior just for the fun of it, but it would have to be Clan Ghost Bear.

The best part about being a Clanner is that when I am a loud mouthed, pompous, well-spoken elitist **** ready to fight at the drop of a hat...

Everyone thinks I am roleplaying.
