Mkay. Just got up. First one you had almost a full ton left over. But dont' get in a hurry to throw on the fancy armor. In fluff, ferro's really a downgrade since it consumes space, and every bit of armor you take off to get even more weight available is worth less than it would be without it. Also I'd be paranoid going that slow.

Locust. I should note that MG ammo lasts almost forever. Even I won't live long enough in a locust to burn through an entire ton of ammo.

But if you wanted something where you can take your time to aim...
(Turns out the weight changes to engines isn't showing in Smurfy, don't know if we'll see it at the same time as Locust's launch).
Sniper Locust Features 100% front armor. Stay FAR from the field. One of the longest range weapons in the game, barely drops damage at the extreme distances, too! Limited ammo. Sorry but unless they drop the weight of the 150 to 170 engines, it's all you can manage. Ferro isn't worth throwing on there.

On the second one you forgot your armor. Trading all but 3 tons of SRM ammo should do you good. Truth be told I'd trade all but 2, and carry 3 tons of AC/5 ammo since you have twin AC/5s. You'll use that more often.

This might be something I try for the Shadowhawk myself. If you're wondering the external DHS on the side torso is to protect the ammo by soaking the damage. The larger an object is in terms of slots, the more likely it will soak up damage.

This is one I'll consider for support. Support Shadowhawk Though a more serious build might be this Rear Line Heavy Support Shadowhawk.

I should note the first two shadowhawk rigs I forgot to change the armor configurations, but in general more front than rear.

It's 11:11. Patch begins at 1 Eastern Standard Time.

Locust looks like a nice build in principle...the machine guns will be good for coming in after enemies have had their armor peeled off so you can get some internal crits. Speed might be an issue, but once you get some you can put an XL in it. Ditch the AMS (you didn't have any ammo for it anyway), take out some of the heat sinks (the MG's don't generate a ton of heat), and stick with Standard Armor instead of Ferro (unless it's FF by default, haven't checked the Phoenix specs yet.) You also had no head armor, which could be a problem...even splash damage could ruin your day if you got hit. Here's my take on the build.

Your SH has no armor. Hehehe! Let's see what we can do with it... The streaks will help for "in your face" encounters, while the AC5 gives you some reach-out-and-touch-someone. Not real punchy from a DPS standpoint, but should be decent in a scrap.

Well I am glad I stopped doing the builds to catch up on videos Koniving linked yesterday as I obviously did a horrible job. LOL

Edit: Trying too stay away from Gauss rifles as I think they are horrible, at least for me. I had one on one of my trial mechs and I just could not stand it.

I wouldn't say a horrible one. But they're the sort of things that make the translation from what's on Smurfy to what's on MWO a bit difficult to match. I've done it before which is why I had you make them. Sometimes you'll make something great in smurfy and for some reason you can't make it happen. Only to discover, "oh wrong engine!" "Oh no wonder I had so much free space, I put in an XL." "Wait a minute, my armor doesn't match..." "My God, I forgot ammo!"

It happens. Example you forgot the ammo for the AMS. I believe the Predator said it best. Shame I can't say it.

I'm throwing 7 ER PPCs onto my battlemaster. Just because.

Yeah I didn't even realize you had to load ammo for the AMS. I have only used it on a trial mech.

I'm gonna love the twin AMS Locust variant. Use two of them to escort a Stalker 5S or an Atlas K. Missile invincibility. 3 mechs with 2 AMS each can shoot down 15 missiles per second. In 2 seconds that's your typical twin LRM-15 stream. Most of the time it takes 3 seconds for them to reach you. Streaks won't even reach you.

Comes with a weakness though. All 6 will fire at a single LRM-5 coming their way. At the same rate they'd fire at 90 missiles.

...Easy to drain. All with one of the most "useless" weapons in everyone's eyes.

Lol nice. What I really want, is a PPC build for the Thunderbolt. Makes perfect sense to me to fire lightning from a mech named Thunderbolt. LOL

I'd build you one, but Smurfy isn't updated with the other variants yet. One of them according to one of the screens flashing around depicts a Thunderbolt with energy weapons in the right torso. Up very high.

That'd be the one to put PPCs on. All the others would have very low, very spread out PPCs (except maybe the arm in terms of spread out). That shoulder had twin energy weapons in almost the same spot (pinpoint!) and thus it'll be handy. The PPCs are on level with the head, so if you can see it most likely you can shoot it.

Example: Most Thunderbolts.
_________o
___________o
_________o
That specific one.
oo
_________o
___________o
_________o

(o is the energy hardpoint. ___represents the upper, middle, and lower sections of torso.)

One thing I'd like to point out, Dizzy, is that sniper mechs with jump jets are highly effective. They are ubiquitous in the competitive tiers. Things like the Caraphract 3D and Highlander 732 or 733C are some of the best poptart snipers. Some people don't know this, but when you select a target and then hit jump jets your curser kind of "snaps" to the target, making it much easier to get a hit (especially if they're not moving or are moving very slowly). Doesn't work on targets under ECM but still is a huge help. My suggestion is to save up and get a highlander for your next mech (possibly a gauss/3x PPC build), then buy the enhanced zoom module. That'll make you a pretty strong sniper. You're really tall so are vulnerable to light mechs, who can strafe around you where you can't even see them, but it'll be a good sniper style build for you when you're ready to try something different than an LRM boat. Hopefully you'll have some support to help defend against lights, anyway.

No wonder claims of "aimbot" are up again even though a functioning one hasn't existed since before the take down of the F9 command (since it relayed undisplayed information about all player locations, allowing the aimbot to function).

I'll have to try that "target snap" when I'm finished with my digital story project. If so me and support are gonna have another issue to bash about in the game. Still trying to get a third person-style crosshair bob into first person to better reflect movement, since in first person you get pinpoint (bad) and in third person you get 'bob' for every step you take your crosshair raises and lowers making you inaccurate as all heck (good).

Can you maybe recommend some joysticks in different price ranges? Like $50, $100 and maybe even $200? I can't afford anything right now, but when my disability pay starts in a month or so, I should be able to get something then.

Dizzy,

I can't speak to any zero-order joysticks, because I haven't been able to find one that is out of the box. If anyone reading this knows of one or software that makes them that way, by all means let me know. I have no problem using a joystick, and since I am completely darkside, I use full on HOTAS. I was using an old Saitek X45 until my throttle rocker broke. I then decided to purchase my shiney new Saitek X52 Pro for $179. There is also the Saitek X52 that runs about $100. Functionally they are about the same, except the X52 pro has an interactive MFD and allows for profile switches on the fly. Both come with software that enable you to write macros (you know for pesky Gauss charging). There is also a forum post in the hardware section (http://mwomercs.com/...joystick-users/) that gives you the coding that enables you to tweak your joystick settings in the user.cfg so that you can get to work almost like a mouse. There are other joysticks out there that range from $65 (Saitek Cyborg) to upwards of $300 Thrustmasters. All I can say is the more money you spend, the better the quality. I spent $100ish dollars on my X45 15 years ago before it gave out on me. So needless to say, I swear by Saitek. Hope this helps, good hunting. BTW, there are forums here under simpits that show how to make a zero-order joystick, just Ain't nobody got time for dat!

Well maybe I will do a PPC build on the Battlemaster then. I want to try to stick to using the hero variants so i can rack up some C-bills.

Edit: Damn typos

Heres a copy of what i use for idf support. it should work out well for you, as you also try and stay 200 yards behind frontline, so u always have support from lights. Its a 4 lrm 15 stalker with 1 tag and 4 medium lasers. u can remove 1 laser and add one more ton of ammo if u like. Put 2 lrms on button 1, and 2 on button 2. this lets u fire 30 lrms at at time which gives a good chance of punching through ams. hadnt used it in ages but took it out ealrier for a couple of games and scored 957, and 1059 damage in 2 matches this morning.

Nice drawings, they are really good. I do hope they come with the Halloween things. But you said earlier that they were not. I hope you are wrong. Lol.

Got 31 pages of drawings for this project. The goal was 37. I'm gonna be cutting the story short sadly.

So guy sees dude get attacked by bear. Too scared, he runs away and cowers. As he cowers, he pictures that 'dude' being himself instead and getting killed by the bear. Then he opens his eyes and sees a wolf. Frightened he stands up, to see the ethereal wolf lead him back to where the bear is. Feeling empowered by the (pardon the pun, "Courage Wolf"), the man draws his bow and his only arrow. This is about where I'm at.

Since I'm cutting it short, the dude's knocked out instead of running around. And the plan is to fire the arrow. Miss terribly. Have the arrow hit a rock. The wolf is gone. The man's on his own. The bear stops dead in front of him and stands up. He drops his bow and raises his fists. ...Somehow the arrow comes back and baps the bear on the head. Turns out the bear's a coward too and he runs off. >.>

Lame ending, I know. But... time limits.
