In Conquest, I don't feel like I need o cap points, and in Assault I don't feel like i need to defend or attack the enemy base. In both modes the main concern is to stick with my team and destroy the enemy mechs. To destroy enemy mechs is the only goal of skirmisher mode, so I think that conquest and assault need to be reassessed to offer a unique and engaging experience.
Currently It isn't viable to split your forces up in any real way, find a way via the game mode objectives to encourage players spliting up into lances, going to different points in conquest, having and having some mechs defend while others attack in Assault.
