Current amount is more than fine. If you play more than 4 mechs you should be supporting the game you enjoy anyways.

How exactly player with X smurf accs support the game?

id say 7 is the right number. 7 mechbays gives you atleast 2 elited mechs plus 1 more space to try out another mech.

Isn't that the concept we have now, just with another chassis added? 1 mastered with a bay to try something else out.

12 is too much. Should be 4 with the option to buy 4 additional mechbays with cbills.

Four bays lets you get at least 2 different mech chassis elited, while keeping one and selling the other two. then you still have 2 empty bays left over for mechs you can get the first tier of improvements in the tree.

Yea, 4 seems good for spending no money on the game. I don't think more are needed.

If it HAD to happen, I couldn't see more than 6. To get 12 mechbays is just plain ridiculous.

I think the number should be 6 or 8. But I much rather have is so patterns are bought for all mechs, not per chassis. And also, collors are way to expencive. 200$+ if you buy all. Hell, putting 10$ in collors should give you all of them...

OP, you should modify your poll. 12 is too many.

You need options for 6, 8, and Other, at a minimum.

I suggest PGI give 4 starting mech bays, and allow for up to an additional 4 to be purchased by c-bills. That would allow an eventual total of 8 mech bays for free-only players. Further mech bays would still be MC-only.

Man you guys love spending money on a mostly unfinished unbalanced game. You actually mock people that want more meckbays for free or features. Most of us have paid a lot more than a typical retail game but with this we havent even seen where the money goes so why tell ppl to open their wallots when they havent even begun on cw which is the whole point of this game existing?

As for Xeven seriously? If you are not willing to pay for a virtual item such as a mech bay they dont have a life? What do you do for a living then? Some people play this for fun and dont want to spend money on it until it's finished. They wont release any numbers so we have no proof they even use your money to hire new talent, or even towards things like new maps or more features...seems mostly for making more hero mechs for you to spend money on. Must not cost a lot of money considering how many mechs they keep releasing.

I think instead of offering more than 4 mech bays, they should allow players to try any trial (stock only) mech in the game in the Testing Grounds. This would allow players to make informed decisions on the mechs they buy and incentivize them to purchase MC for more bays.

Good idea but put something in there that shoots back like turrets so you can see how squishy it is. And limit the number of times you can try it out in the testing grounds.

If you play the game long enough to buy more than four mechs then it's only fair that you give the devs some money.

Plus mechbays are the only reasonably priced thing in the game.

I thought that too - or maybe its the MC packages

but what how many mechbays do you get for 'Triple A' 60$ priced game"

60$= 20 mechbays
so would 100$ get you half the available mechs?
There are about 100 mechs ingame so less then a quarter of available mechs for 60$

16 Non champion and Hero - lightmechs
so 60$ would get you all the Light mechs plus 6 mechs of choosing - do note Lightmechs are the fewest of mechs per weight chassis

On topic : Since some mechs have 5 different varaints - 6 Total mechbays would be fine for F2P

A lot of people seem to be under the impression that MWO's financial success would be greatly impacted if players were allowed more mech bays. I would like to point out that the most popular and most financially successful PC game currently (League of Legends) which also happens to be free-tp-play does not restrict how many champions a f2p player can have. I would also imagine that if they did limit the number of champions a f2p player could own to 4 then the game would be no where near as successful as it is now.

This is a business, not a charity.

I do agree that 4 feels somewhat limited, but 12 seems too generous.

Also note that the terms of use do not prevent you from having multiple accounts with multiple groups of 4 free mech bays; The terms only state you cannot use multiple accounts for forum posting.

With the ability ot have any number of accounts and any number of mech bays, what you're really paying for is the convenience of having all your mechs in one spot.

I think there are valid arguments from both sides and that the true answer is somewhere in the middle.

People are right that this is a business and not a charity. At the same time these sorts of multiplayer games need a large enough player base to work. If they don't have enough paying players or don't earn enough from them the game will fail. If they don't have enough free players then there aren't enough matches or competitors and the game will fail. If you give too many things away for free then you won't earn enough revenue. If you don't give enough away then you won't attract or maintain a large enough group of free players and the game will die.

Personally I don't mind paying for mech bays or premium time but I unfortunately DO mind paying PGI. It would only cost me a few dollars but every time I want to pull out my wallet I am forced to remind myself of the current state of the game...

There are various mech chassis, weapons, skills and modules that have been non-competitive or even completely useless or non-functional for months or even YEARS. They add arbitrary mechanics like ghost heat which often cause more problems than they solve and are completely undocumented and invisible to casual players. They consistently fail to deliver on promises and timelines or they backtrack and make changes on those promises and timelines. Worst of all is that regardless of your thoughts on balance or the changes that should (or should not) be made, the one thing that almost everybody can agree on is that PGI has almost no communication with the community and rarely if ever discusses or even acknowledge issues that a respectable portion of the community is interested in.

I have fun and WANT to support the game but I also see lots of issues and the actions and communication (or lack thereof) by the developers give me too many doubts about what I am really buying. A few good patches or a little communication would ease these doubts and probably give me the confidence to open my wallet. Until then I will play for free.

Why not stack all variants into a single mechbay with all variants locked when one is in battle.
Eliting would still remain c-bill sink, but at least not a pay barrier.

I'm sure it's been said in here but, I didn't read all of the posts...

i think 6 would be a good number because you can elite 2 different mechs. Also I don't like how hero's don't come with mechbays but, that is a different topic.

Well hopefully the rewards from that CW pdf make it into the game sometime for a source of mechbays. Being able to grind towards mechbays is something I look forward to.

I've never been a fan of having to pay real money just to store stuff. Paying for mechs/camo/colors/horns/etc is cool, but for room to store a mech you've throwing acouple million Cbills for? Nah.

Why stop at 12? Why not 13? 14?

How about we stick with what we got.
