Confirmation bias.
Displacement.
Placebo.

It is very well documented that almost everybody is the victim of delusions a large amount of the time, especially in situations like this. This is increased in crowds of people claiming things...vicious cycle?

There's clearly not a lot of aiming skill in this video, but here's what I experience: http://www.twitch.tv..._bill/c/3100317

A few of those are clear misses, but a few of those should have registered some decent damage. At the end, it's hardly scratched. And then the Jenner melts like it always does.

I've shot enough Spiders to think there's something going on, but I dunno, they don't seem to be any harder to hit. They are still hard to kill, but I dunno... lasers seem to be the most effective option on it and most likely HSR is really wonky on projectiles.

I did one-shot the backside torso of a Spider to kill it recently, so it's probably HSR/hitbox related one way or another.

Congrats?

It's just a statement of fact... if it were 'hitboxes' or the 'mech' it should be consistent...

A lot of misses and if we factor an HSR/network jitter possibility... it makes sense. Your lasers spend more time chewing snow than mech in the beginning, and Mg's at the range... bleh as for the jenner, sure he melted, he's got 3-4 mechs chewing on him.

Why? You only see me in light mechs?

I prefer playing light mechs, I have far better stats in my heavies and assaults though despite them being better Elo. Easymode is easymode. I chose not to play it :)

Exactly, I drive nothing but lights, 2cents and one cicada, but I still do a million times better in my aplha striking 9m aws, just the way the game is.

I love my spiders since the moment they came in, but easy mode is no fun, the real fun right now is the locusts and my 170kph DK

Lol......................

Serious?

Are you?

You watching the same video?

Lol.............

Now lets point to all the evidence also showing Victors stood still taking no damage....Cicadas taking multiple shots and losing nothing...the fact that you can hit an ATLAS square CT and it does NOTHING...

I'm sorry that I don't actively hunt spiders, and watch them still collapse anyways due to PGI magic™.

Yes? And see how there's a white puff of smoke and a decal when I hit the ground with a laser, whereas there's fire and smoke when it's actually hitting the Spider?

1st Shot - Total failure
2nd Shot - Not great, but based on the particle effects and lack of snow decals until the end, I'd say that should have done more damage
3rd Shot - Pretty bad
4th Shot - Pretty bad
5th Shot - A fair amount of smoke and fire, even though it was only with the first half of the shot
6th Shot - Bad
7th Shot - I tagged the left hip for the last half of the beam (again with fire and smoke), and nothing registered
8th Shot - Real bad

I'm not saying it should have died, but at least one of those legs should have been orange, at the very least. Am I missing something? Do I need to lead?

Spiders are ******, if you pilot a spider (As is teh case of wispsy) that's fine, it's a mech you bought you deserve to run it.

What's NOT fine is saying you're the best ever because you do really well in a broken spider. I know Wispsy is a good light pilot and I totally respect you Wispsy, but I don't respect you acting like you are doing well in your spider because of skill.

I played a game against you where you landed in the middle of my ENTIRE team on the canyon map, it was at least 10 of us and everyone but our lights was definitely there. You jump jetted in, landed and did the bump-stop, and accelerated out. Our ENTIRE team fired at your and we did less than 5% of your armor. You are a good pilot in a light, but THAT scenario was not a result of your skill but rather the result of bugged spiders. Trying to say you are so good in a light that the reason no one hits your spider is because of skill is just fallatious and insulting, you're smarter than that and you know better.

and point out the vid you linked to was recorded 1-2 patches in the past.

This.

No other light can pull that ****. When Jenners do this, they die. Ravens can make an occasional ballsy pass, but if more than three or four people are paying attention, they die. Commandos are smaller, but they're still twice as easy to hit. And Locusts... don't even get me started on what a joke those are.

Its lack of hardpoints is the only thing that keeps it from being truly formidable.

I'm almost getting tired of posting this.

No wait, I'm not. Here's my thread with video, now archived.

For anyone who can't be bothered to click the link, the video is here:

Another interesting thing to note is that there is a dev response saying that this was helpful, but apparently either Garth is out of the loop or that was a lie.

Lets look at the post date on that...

and today's date is?
10/17/2013... you remember launching tuesday and getting that message about UPLOADING?

....and you didn't bother to test it again prior to this post did ya? (No, else you'd have posted the vid)

You also apparently missed when PGI, following your vid stated they had found a problem with certain weapons systems and hit allocation.

The 'hole' may have been fixed without it being in the patch notes. Not like they haven't change things without telling us before.

Though I generally don't have much problem when I'm in a heavier mech, in a light fight, it's just too agile to keep in my sights most of the time. Especially if you're in a mech without jumpjets or streaks.

It has a good size, good hitboxes, and is not just fast, but extremely agile. Raven has huge legs and less agility, Jenner has huge CT, Commando is just too sluggish/under-armoured to compare. Spider is simply a better design in terms of survivability than the other lights.

Combined with the global hit registration issues, of course. But don't forget. Just like there's a chance for your AC20 shell to hit and not register, there's also a chance that a front hit will turn into a rear hit and core them unfairly.

Like others have said, there is no hitbox problem. There is a hitreg problem. It may perhaps be more exacerbated in the Spider, but it's something that only some players experience with regularity (others don't have as much of an issue and/or experience it against all mechs).

Then explain why people can hit Cicadas, Jenners, Commandos, Locusts, Ravens, etc etc etc... but Spider walk through a group of 5 mechs all firing on it without a scratch. I have seen it happen time and time again. Can you kill spiders? Yes! Do they take as much damage as an atlas to kill? Heck Yes!

I think an atlas would have lasted a bit longer...if they missed as often.

I also read the patch notes, and you'd better believe that they'd tell us about it if they fixed the spider hitreg bug because they know how much it irks the playerbase. There has been no announcement, the patch notes noted no change, and spiders are still buggy; so I figured it was a reasonable assumption that spiders still had a deadzone for hits on the CT.

But there you went, being a rude little twerp on the forums assuming I also didn't care enough to test it. So here, let me make you happy: I recorded this 5 minutes ago. Please enjoy it. I can only hope you will be pleased with how much better the results are now than they were a whole two weeks ago.
