fearfactory mentioned this in General discussion, but I thought I'd make a topic out of it.

Go to http://www.virtualco...r.com/demos.php if you don't know what I'm talking about.
Its an independently created battletech simulator. Kind of rough, but as fearfactory said, it implements obvious game mechanics never done before:

1.) Speed is dependent on terrain. E.g. you can't go full speed up a hill, but can fly down a hill.

2.) The target reticule (the COD) is dependent on speed. At a stop, its small, but increases in size as speed increases. At a sprint (see below), its gigantic.

3.) You can exceed your top speed a bit in a flat-out sprint, but aiming and steering is worthless since the mech's fists are pumping, etc.

My suggestions to the devs:
--Take the above into consideration (its easy to code).
--I think heat should be increased in a sprint/run too (also easy to code).
--Where are the admins ?

Talk amongst yourselves

I've played... I think it was Demo12... some time ago.
Random missions were fun for a while, but the pace was a bit slow back then.
It's outstanding in so far as it contains most unit types and is very true to the tabletop game.

Played it and loved it. The first of the demo had physical attack in it but I think he changed game engines and it went away.Think it was Battletech simulator.

There was some guys working on a mod using the battfield 2142 engine for battltech, they had changed some of the mech from that game into battletech mechs the picture looked good.Nevr got to try that one though.

I created some mechs and buildings for it.

The Ice Ferret and barracks were created by me.

This is the trueth. It held true to the table top game and was very close to the old MPBT:Solaris and 3025. I think it is in the top 3 battletech/mechwarrior games ever.

Everything kinda died after the last demo, everybody moved on with their lives.

Too bad, we would have gotten to dropships next:

Good God those 'Mechs are ugly.

So are those buildings and weapon pods.

I should know, I built them. Well, most of them, some of them are Hana's, but most were mine. At least the ones out of the earlyer Demos. I remember having alot of talks with Derk about how the engine should function. The talks about heat were rather..um..heated..oy.

The start up screen is a render I did using Hana's highpoly 'Mechs.

Be fun to see if we could get some peps togeather to play some, I remember having loads of fun with this in multiplayer.

I played this a long, LONG time ago, it might have been version 6 or earlier that I played. I know that it was prior to getting my laptop in 2007, that's for sure.

It had good ideas at the time, but it was glitchy and the punch/kick system was clunky. That, and when you killed an opponent it just stopped moving and firing back.

I'm not sure how it plays, these days, but I'm glad they kept pursuing it.

Hey Punk, long time no see, I enjoyed fighting you and Matti.
Hana is also on this board, she has a thread in fanart.

We also have a Andrew Osis around here, but I'm sure if he's the same guy as AndrewOsis1.

Heya Storm, long time no shoot. :)

I saw Hana's thread out there, trying to wrangle her into some BTS. And yeah, that's Andrew.

I dled demo 14, man I really don't like the way he did the falling thing, and the COD is good with AC weapons but nothing else. I can't hit snot with LRMs, he pretty much made them useless. Actually, most weapons he made useless unless you are at med to short range. So basically there is no med or long range combat unless you are super lucky, and the bots seem to be perfect shots even on Green skill. There were alot of rules that me and Derek did not see eye to eye on tho, with that last demo(14) I can see I pretty much won all our arguments. :D Still, much respect for his attempts to make a honest BT sim.

And I was being serious, anyone want to play I'd enjoy a nice sparing match.

I downloaded this again today and played. A lot of improvement! Especially in the control setup. The falling is awful though! I was walking along and just fell randomly for no reason lol

Oh, I server to play online seems to still be working. Maybe we can use the 13th demo (so we dont fall every few seconds) and play online. Anyone interested?
