You know whats cool:

Being able to adjust your team and lances so you can put the 4 lights in a lance, the 4 heavy hitting assualts in a lance, and fitting the rest of the assaults and heavies in a lance. You know matching mechs of certain speed ranges together in order for them to support each other better and not spread all over the map. A more cohesive team.

Good idea PGI.

Whats not cool:

Douche bags who have a f'ing tantrum because they are not lanced with thier 4 man...and decide they are going to attack you at the beginning of the round for optimizing the team. Which is happening a lot.

Be mad maybe, ignore the tactical benefits because your stupid fine, be a f'ing ********** and attacking a teammate for utilizing a game supported feature for its intended and beneficial purpse ? F*** NO.

Dont be a douche.

But you know whats fun ? Taking out both of the mechs who decided to unload on you at the beginning of the round for having the nerve to improve our chances of winning. Next time dont get owned by me because you had the nerve to try and team kill me because you "were mad bro". Work with the team.

LOL

It's odd that PGI didnt see this train wreck coming. Something needs to be done to discourage it, as the feature is being ignored because of numb nuts.

Edit: Typo

You know what sucks? Being in a coordinated 4-man and then being split up by a PUG commander that does nothing aside from shuffle lances - no orders. You call it optimizing, but you're really not if they're in a 4-man. If they're in a group, they'll probably run as a lance regardless of what you think they should do. It goes both ways.

That said, no one should be trying to TK or leg. Somehow, though, I get the feeling most of the time they request to be put back together before actually attacking. And based on the tone of your post, my guess is that you feed them some arrogant ******** instead of complying.

I could be totally wrong and it could all be unprovoked, but this story seems suspiciously one-sided.

Even if my lance gets split we still stick together. Its just easier to check on your group when in the same lance. ( hp percentages in example )

Agreed with Bill and not because he's on council for my Merc unit. Dude i harldy ever see you anymore.

What's worse is i've been in a few matches recently where scumbags are actively legging the last person to ready up. Got done just now with the timer at 50 seconds.

Please move the ready screen to where it belongs. In Hardcore only.

The real problem is,... nobody of the 4man lances type in chat that they actually are a 4man. They start complain maybee after they get moved. this is the whole point.

In the end just a few words would stop the rage. It isn't that hard to just write some words. We all know a multiplayer is about communication. But i see more 4man's refusing to talk, than anything else.

The proportion of peopls chatting about "ready up" is 99% higher than those who actually wanna prepare a strat or tell that they droped as a team.

I've already seen this a couple times and I haven't even played that much. 4 man gets shuffled. 4 man asks to be put back together. PUG genius says something along the lines of "Trust me, this works better. Also, do all the things I say during the match because I have a good plan." Rage promptly ensues.

I'm seriously not even exaggerating, lol. The best part...in one of the matches the commander was the biggest Hodor of them all, wandering around in his Atlas alone like a lost puppy, issuing orders all the way across the map when he didn't even know what was going on, haha

Let's face it, this is just another example of pgi not really thinking their design decisions through.

However, many of the problems their sloppy design causes would be mitigated by ubiquitous voice comms. What are they waiting for? :S

i call em ******** and mentally unstable ppl droping as a group doesnt prevent you beeing split up
especially if you drop with light and assault mechs!
there is no reason to be not split up in such a case.
The greatest ppl i saw that moaned were {Richard Cameron} that tsaid they were ts and didnt want to be split up wich didnt make any sense at all. Since Assault mechs have different objectives then the scout mechs!
Tbh knowing what mechs you have and how much of em help alot of indirect koordination.
Since ppl can look what they lose and adjust there playstyle to it if they want knowing
they lost all there lights or alot of heavys!

That feature was implementet patches ago now moaning about it is just ..........................

I've never witnessed such event, but being in a 4-men premade doesn't automatically make you "coordinated". I've seen too many premade teams with the same camo pattern just rushes in without checking their teammates' position and got annihilated alone. Oh and the obligatory "OMG pug sucks" after that doesn't help either. So please, claiming that you're in a 4-men premade means nothing. You still have to work with the other 8 players to achieve victory, and really nothing justifies TKing one of your own at the start of the match.

Yeah, stupid PGI! They should have known that people would start killing their own teammates for not pushing the ready button fast enough, or moving people from one lance to another. "Rule #1: Assume the MWO community is nothing but a bunch of spoiled, ignorant a**holes." How, I wonder, would that memo go over with the #savemwo crowd if it were leaked?

Prems really should be sticking to the 12on12s, but if you're going to drop with a PUG, you should respect the environment we play in and tell everyone, "Hey, Alpha Lance is a Premade. Don't move us around." Believe me, we all love to hear there are people on our side with extra-communication powers (because teamwork=victory, right?) If you're so determined to troll the PUGs, why can't you take a second before the match starts to actually talk to them, too?

Finally @OT: Seriously, do you have, like, keyboard turrets or something? Because if you're talking to people in chat the way I see you talking in every one of your posts I've come across, it's kind of offensive. Try posting something nice, for a change. Life really is too short, you know?

I hate to get split up from my ts mates but i even more hate ignorant "commanders" who insult us for asking to put us back together. We didn't tk one of those guys, yet. But this is getting more frustrating everytime.

Yes you can't see if there's a premade and to hell will i announce our premade in chat, that gets you nothing beside stupid trolling. And if a commander thinks he have to move anyone, ok, do it. BUT if those guys tell you they want to play together in a lance GET THEM BACK TOGETHER!

Just an example, LRM-Pack: 1x scout with narc/tag, 3x LRM boats. It is important to see where you're scout is, and best way is to use the lance options. You won't recognize this setup only from mech types but you hinder them to play effectively together if you shift arround.

And last thing, if you wanna be a commander: what in bloody hell stops you to write some words like:

"Resorting lances, anyone has a prob with it?"

You take action, so you are responsible, not the premade.

I've been on an extended break from MWO. I got burnt out shortly before launch when I realized nothing was happening. I'll be back in full force for Phoenix.

I've heard the legging stories, and at first I agreed that it should be scrapped from PUG games altogether; however, my view has changed after dropping about 10 matches last night (the only 10 in about a month). The pre-game was pretty much always filled with shout outs and lively chat, and that was nice to see. I never had someone take too long to ready up, but if it's a problem they can just reduce the timer or not wait for all 24.

Overall, I think it's not worth removing at this point. It'll be useful once PUG matches start being faction vs faction and things matter. Might as well get used to it and work out the kinks now.

Premades and Lance Leader should be able to lock their Lances and prevent them from being split up.

TKs are rare enough that they're not a huge deal. The threat of TK for being arrogant or overly douchey helps bring order to PUG chaos. People say "Get over it, it's just a game, it's not worth TKing". I say "It's just a game, TK isn't a big deal so get over it". +1 to TKs.

whats also not cool is when you drop a light lance, then someone takes command and moves your 4 man light lance across 3 lances, pairing them with assaults and such.

Technically I think it's a boohoo about a boohoo about being shuffled.

You're not one of those filthy pro-shufflers are you?

I drop in premades, and to be honest, we do not talk to many of the PUGs because of the attitude that the OP and many of the others have taken in this thread. Yes, each mech class has its role, and yes, sometimes it is good to put uncoordinated mechs into same class lances. It is not smart to split premades who formed their 4 man to fit a specific style of play, sure we may run with 3 heavies and and assault one game, good maneuverability and a great follow up punch, or 2 lrm heavies, a brawler, and a spotter, 2 are specific, the brawler helps protect the boats, and the light gets us targets which seems to be a weak point for pugs.

You may have a good idea, but it does not mean it is the best, nor does it mean that everyone buys into. If you move my group around, and I ask to be put back in with my premade, you really should do it, out of respect for players, do not force your view of play on others, even if you may be right.
