I have found posts talking about this, but I still feel like I need clarification before I purchase my Yen-Lo. Do I have to buy a mech bay if I have none in order to purchase the a hero mech? I suppose it's not a big deal if I have to, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing something that gets me out of the the 300 for the bay. I think I've been spoiled with founders/overlord packages and am confusing the purchasing details of the two. Any help is much appreciated.

Bays, may be included after UI 2.0, but I doubt it.

Hope they credit hero mech purchasers with a mech bay... would be a nice gesture.

If they ever start giving a mech bay with each hero mech you can be sure they will give a mech bay for each previous hero mech purchase as well.

I doubt hero mechs will ever just come with a mechbay, but you'll probably be able to buy the mech and bay at a reduced cost (like, get the bay for only 150 credits or something)

The only way to access the buy menu is to click on the empty mech bay.
I keep one spare simply so I can browse the catalogue of available Mechs from time to time.
By the way, Mech Bays are a buck fifty each. A buck fifty. Let's have some perspective.
