Has anyone noticed that the Battlemaster start-up sequence is off? I think all the sequences tend to press three buttons, but the BLR only hits two. As a consequence the timing of the start-up sequence is off.

I know it's only minor but the OCD in me is vexed. :D

Shadow Hawk and Thunderbone has only two buttons too, I guess all the "old tech" (lostech?) has one button less. Sensors and weapons hardwired together :)

surely it suggests that the revamped mechs only needed two buttons and not three...the extra space was used to fit a cup holder

Sounds like P2W to me.

Unacceptable.

Dude, remember - Battletech is like Warhammer 40k. The older the technology, the better it is, since the Adeptus Mechanicus (ComStar) are incompetent dogmatic fools who won't dare to innovate and invent, or even reverse-engineer technology.

Same thing in Battletech, except Battletech mechanics and engineers aren't governed and trained by a mega-technophillic-quasi-religious order of weird tentacle-y people having a circle jerk to a piece of circuitry. (rather than trying to make a copy of said circuit to learn how it works and thus make more grimdark f**k-you weaponry for SPEEHS MAREEHNS!!!)

TL;DR - Battletech is like WH40k in that old s**t works better and has more everything. And cup holders too, since apparently a small circular depression to place a canister of liquid inside of is Lostech.

Lostech!=old tech

Lostech is the term used to describe lost old technologies, like terraforming, extinct Star League mechs and equipment (for instance, XL engines were lostech too, currently you're looking at Snub-Nosed PPCs and a whole bunch of other stuff).

These mechs are bread an butter of the IS militaries since their inception and are still going strong even in 3145.

Actually, 2633 tech.

Just to give you an idea. We're looking at WW1 era biplanes while stuff like Raven and Cataphract are Raptors.

The Battlemaster along with the other PP mechs are Star League era stuff, so they're MILES ahead of anything being produced currently. Their tech level and complexity makes them impossible to reproduce correctly with current 3050 tech and manufacturing capabilities.

So in reality, the Battlemaster (and other PP mechs) would be a Eurofighter Typhoon, while the Raven and Cataphract would be the biplanes.

Side note: I say EFT because it's beaten pretty much every other fighter/interceptor aircraft made to date.

You seem to have a few misconceptions about Star League to Clan invasion era comparison.

When it comes to unseens, we are talking about mechs that are actually being produced everywhere. The mechs we are currently using survived, because they are 3025 era tech. This tech became old during the later years of the Star League, but it is the tech these six are built on. Only the best of the SLDF has got these outfitted with top of the line Star League tech and we're talking about mechs that, while lost, could only match the performance of our current mechs.

They are relics that haven't lost their kick during the ages. AK-47 of the inner Sphere.

On the other hand, current Cataphracts and Ravens are completely built around systems of the late Star League era (yes, the game shows them as similar to each other, but they should be not) and are being actively upgraded with technology that beats even that of the Star League (TSM, for example). Thus, they are really head and shoulders above these six in their technology level.

The pilot for the Locust startup is blind. He has to stick his head a foot away from the control console to see what he is pushing :)
