Sigh, another one of this post.
Do what you want with the PPC or LL or ERLL..... i don't care. I've tried them before and I can never quite get it to work in sniping situations.....Where as Gauss, yes it has it's disadvantage, but the key is I'm actually able to hit things past 1000m even with a moving target. Doing it with ERLL and PPC or ERPPC ....is a disaster.... due to projectile speed and projectile SIZE.

When i run a 2 ERLL/ 1 Gauss or 2 PPC / 1 Gauss build, my max effective range is around 800-900m, anything above that, two problems:

- Either it doesn't hit = 0 damage
- Or it hits, but do little damage

With Pure Gauss, I can even hit things 1500m away, even on a moving target, with gimped damage of course.

That's why i made this....

This is all thanks to Gauss, Two of them.

Anymore tweaks will either : 1. Make me perform better with it, OR 2. Make it useless to me.

I'd rather it stay the way it is, so stop asking for any changes to the Gauss!

The debate however is all theoretical and irrelevant seeing as none of us are lucky enough to have the nifty little PGI nametag that would get the idea looked at. So just like the countless other "X needs to happen because of Y", "X is OP because of Y", "X should be whatever because of Y" threads it'll be casually archived and payed no heed by the ever listening [insert sarcasm] devs.

So you're suggestion is to not have community discussion because in your opinion it won't get looked at by the devs?

Now to get back on topic, the gauss rifle is a viable weapon, not for everyone, and not for certain mechs, but it is a viable weapon. The PPC doesn't need a charge mechanic, that would further gimp the weapon. You'd need to reduce the heat, buff the projectile speed, and then get rid of ghost heat all together.

OP already made that observation and I don't think you will find many if any proponents to Ghost Heat among the player demographic this discussion was aimed at (read: competitive).

I wasn't talking to you, nor do I care about your or anyone else's extensive and utterly irrelevant gaming resume, you two can go touch epeens elsewhere.

I'll ask nicely that you keep any bizarre fetishes you have regarding our or anyone else's "epeens" out of this discussion and we keep this on point, your call. :)

Wow, not even a single game over 1k, nor even remotely close to a 150 score game. You also chose to leave out who you were playing against - anyone can get high damage against scrubs in Atlai. Either way, posting up scoreboards to show how good you went is a little silly - the scoreboards are a very poor indicator of how well you actually went. I'd be interested to see how you went in that mech against say a pure meta build - highlander 733c or even a 2ac5/2ppc phract 3D. My moneys on you getting wasted, because Gauss simply doesn't fare well against good players playing unpredictably - if you would please go read through my previous replies you would - hopefully - understand.

In the old xbox game Mechassualt, PPC's were charged, but a little different than the current guass. In mechassualt, the PPC could be charged to any point before full power, and fired at that charge. But, a jerk of the trigger [instant pull lice a semi-auto weapon] would have only 50% power. Also, a full charge lasted as long as you held the trigger, but built up heat at about 25% per second. I think this mechanic would balance things out.

That would be an awesome mechanic. The charge of the Gauss where you have a chance to accidentally release it a split second early and lose the entire shot, is incredibly frustrating - if ppc's could be fired instantly at less power or held for more, would be great.
