After playing around with Smurfy's site, it is possible to run a 1V with an AC2 and 2 tons of ammo and a max tweaked speed of 150kph.

You're supposed to group up with me so that I can hide behind your littany of Assault mechs

That's really what is holding me back. Assuming I'm a crack shot every time, I'm limited to 300 damage. On the other hand, even with the Lrg Laser, you're still rather limited as you'd need to put 34 trigger pulls of that weapon and full beam duration on every target. I guess you could go with one ton of ammo and a Md Laser so that you're using all ranges. Bleh, the 1V just sucks. I'd give someone else's kidney for a mortar.

Someone said to wait for a straggler but I have had a lot of luck zooming in during a furball, when everyone is more worried about the bigger mechs, strafe a backside, plink and distract a cockpit.... NEVER STOP MOVING!
Same goes for the 3S, I run mine with 1x ML, 2x SRM2 w/2 tons ammo, max armor, max engine.
My 3M is treated the same too, but occasionally I can sneak up to the backside of a distracted mech and two things occur: 1, my quarry doesn't notice me behind them or the 5x SLs firing into his back; and 2, just how quickly 5x SLs can chew through backarmor.

Oh, off to ignominious anonymity for me now, is it?

Wait for mid match after the mechs have taken significant damage.
Then come out of hiding and move in for the kill.
Or snipe with it at long range.
Always remember you are a locust.
Shoot and scoot.
